I love fashion and fashionable outfits but am very practical.I buy according to my lifestyle, comfort and the frequency of usage.

I have been recently checking online and there are such gorgeous clothes, reasonably priced and super tempting.

Though I feel I can pull off certain outfits, somehow my conservative nature does not allow me to and I back off.

At this time of COVID,it does not make much sense to buy stuff unless necessary.

I usually end up with the needed purchase and something which I can wear often without feeling conscious.

So how about you all?How do you see fashion and do you buy on an impulse? How conservative or outgoing are you with fashion?

    Just a light thread

I was putting away clothes after the Monday laundry routine and found that I can easily point to the "fashionable" outfits in my closet. They fit well, I look good, feel good when I wear them. Alas.. they are the least used ones.

To answer the questions posed: I can be fashionable or fashion conscious if I want to and when the occasional thought comes that I need to pay more attention to what I wear. But it passes. : )

I also have found that there are gorgeous and reasonably priced clothes available online with generous return policies. Somehow I browse through them, like a few, but mostly don't buy. The days of giving away bags and bags of hardly worn clothes are past.

Now I am into buying creative storage, organizers and shelves. I badly want to buy wall-mounted corner shelves and floating book shelves. Also fridge under-shelf storage basket and ladder bookcase. : ) It's almost Christmas and also Amazon Prime days coming up. : )

P.S. Why is one word always in "double quotes" in all thread titles? : )

I love clothes but I am not sure what you mean by “fashionable”. Is it the current fashionable thing/trend or how well dressed you typically are?

I don’t care about trends. I like a well curated wardrobe. Even when I am home and wearing shorts and a tee, it needs to something I like. In last 5 years, I have drastically reduced the number of clothing items I have. I do buy almost every month(except for this year, I haven’t bought anything since April) and purge regularly.

I have a closet full of clothes now that I love. Anything I don’t love, needs to go. I am doing this experiment now, I teach three times a week and I wear a different outfit every single time (I do repeat clothing items but mix with something different to come up with a totally new outfit). I mix fabrics, styles, and colors and It has been fun! To me it is like a blank canvas and you can paint anything whatever you imagine.

My style is classy with a bit of fun. I don’t do impulse shopping anymore. I buy clothes that speak to me, that make me smile.

This quote pretty much sums up the fashion/style for me:

“Fashion is about storytelling through clothing; it’s about the stories behind them and the ones you create around them. It’s a cultural influence, backstory or intellectual touchpoint that you can trace back to what you’re wearing. We use it to escape the mundane, to embrace and celebrate tradition. It’s about a sense of history and pride and it embodies a greater sense of purpose than just a garment tossed on to cover bodies.”

fashionable in sense..something that is in Trend.the off shoulder and cold shoulders were in trend a while ago..
or some fashions which are quite edgy, with high heels, halter tops etc..

Also, fashionable according to me is well fit dresses, clean and feels good when you wear it.

By the way,how does one wear this off shoulder?you cannot wear a bra and I always wonder how it stays on the shoulder!

Strapless bra or some tops have built-in support.

Ah... trendy stuff! Not a follower of trends! I like off shoulder blouses but dislike cold shoulder. I just don’t see a point of cold shoulder... just doesn’t feel right to me.

@MalStrom already mentioned- strapless bras or I think I have mentioned in your another similar thread- nippies. The off shoulder blouses stay on shoulders just fine if the size is right or can use garment tape if want to make sure it doesn’t slip.
I wear halter dresses and blouses a lot, usually pair with a cardigan or blazer or wear with convertible bra if the straps of halter can cover the bra straps (they usually do). I wouldn’t call halter tops edgy though. Same goes with strapless dresses. I have a few cocktail dresses that I wear with a blazer/
cardigan so they don’t look too formal and I can use those more often.

I don’t wear high heels. I go with comfort. Platform heels or max 1-1.5 inch on boots/ shoes.

Style is an art and you get comfortable more as you experiment more with different styles.
