i am looking for pancreatitis diet (indian vegetarian low fat diet )
if anyone has followed any such specific diet and has seen improvement in the condition it would help to know.
i am googling for the food categories and has appointment with the dr. and dietitian soon .
they are not very aware of indian veg diet so they rely on google too sometimes or end up giving options among western food groups which has never been a sustainable change for H over a period of time.
somethings like replacing diary with almond milk/soy milk for coffee , replacing or eliminating yogurt , need to drastically reduce rice quantity and increase salads and fruits , replace olive oil with EVO coconut oil for MCT etc are what i will be trying now ..any thing i am missing please fill in the blanks. thank you.

I would be careful with the coconut oil. My primary doctor is Indian and she does not advise coconut oil due to the saturated fat content.

Thank you . I was looking at two options coconut and palm oil . Thought coconut oil would taste better than palm . May I know which oil your doctor advises

Any oil wich turns solid when cooled is not healthy for a dieting person.

Any unsaturated oil: olive, avocado, sunflower, peanut, safflower. I use avocado oil for regular cooking and sesame oil for certain Indian dishes.

Coconut oil is one of the best natural oil for stomach. The fat content in Coconut oil is healthy, don't belive in false news. I can see a full section for coconut oil in stores in USA now a days, earlier it was not. Look like people recognize its health and beauty benefits. It has been used by generations without any issues. Avoid all GMO oils like canola, corn etc..also avoid hydrogenated oils, go for natural oils like olive/ coconut oil/ or similar ones. What was the oil your grand parents or great grand parents used. Thats ok to use. But overuse of any oil especially for frying is not healthy. Anyway, select whats best for your condition.

I have been following strict diet for inflammatory disease, but not for pancreatic issues ( its also inflammation). I use virgin coconut oil from Costco, moderately. Google specific carbohydrate diet/low food map diet. Avoid diary. If you need yogurt, go for 24h fermentation to reduce the lactose effect.

Its better to consult dietitian. But follow the food culture of your grandparents. Our body is made for tropical region, so changing it to western style won't go well with everyone's body. Its easy now days to get all Indian food. So pick from there. If your family food culture don't contain too much salad, don't go for it, instead go for well cooked vegetables. Avoid gluten, rice in low quality will be ok i believe. If you are not a vegetarian, try to go for omega3 rich fish. Expert Ayurveda doctors in India can also help you to find the best options in diet for your condition. Go for anti- inflammatory foods.

I was in a diary/ gluten/ raw vegetable/nuts free diet for years. Only well cooked/ steamed food. No junk or fried foods. Rice was the only carbohydrate I used.. But you need lot of supplements ( multivitamins, especially D, B12, prebiotic etc...). It helped me, not using any medicine now. I avoid all artificial milks like almond or other kind of oils. Recently only started using yogurt( home made one 24h fermentation). I prefer only natural organic well cooked food as much as I can.

But what work for me won't work for others. So select whats best for you and your health condition. Try one by one. Good luck.

This website may give some idea about almost all foods, but we need to tune it to our food culture for better benefits.

i read a price comparison by a sunflower seeds farmer recently.1kg sunflower seeds cost 250-300 INR.To make 1 ltr oil ,3 kg seeds needed and price of 1ltr oil somewhere between 150-200.He sells only seeds and not oil as to make pure oil cost is high and market price will high.
I doubt manufacturers add something else to make sunflower oil cheap.
I use olive oil, sesme oil, coconut oil depending on what I am cooking. We hardly eat any fried items .But I have kept sunflower oil for this purpose. Please use locally available oil if in India.Anything in moderation wont wont.

It’s better to consult Indian dieticians as they can suggest the diet based on your conditions and lifestyle.

There are companies like Healthify Me who can provide consultation even if you are away from India and according to your time zone.

    @Caughtinbetween ,

Are you able to find the vegetarian diet for pancreatitis?
Our doctor has suggested to stop the spicy food completely. No oild food.We should be using only dry red chillies in our cooking. Have to be on lots of fruits and
Cooked vegetables. Soft food which is easy for digestion has to be given.
Has the pain reduced now? Are you back on normal diet?
