Not too young for white hair.
Where I grew up, the water was chlorinated and everyone's hair was greying in 9th grade (15 yrs)

You can try to detox your liver- one option. Another is to include amla in diet.

Did anyone sue for water causing pre-mature hair aging? Or was this in India?

How to detox liver? I eat fruits and veggies and avoid processed foods as it is.

I'll have to buy amla while in lockdown .....

Late 30s is not too young. My mother’s hair started graying in her late twenties, mine in my early thirties. My mom chose to gray naturally and it suits her. I have been coloring my hair. It’s not something I’ve ever lost sleep over.
One of my students had premature graying starting in her teens so it could be worse.

My hair all greyed out very young and use to dyes made it worse. I live with it but feel embarrassed lot of times and loss of confidence. It has to do with age / genes /eating/living style.
We can not reverse the process and have to live with it.
Also Vitamin B12( i guess, google before) might help a bit.

Late thirties is not too young for white hair...it’s quite an average age..you may not have noticed other ladies of your age with white hair because they’re either genetically blessed or started colouring and streaking their hair years ago..

One white hair actually came out (while combing). I am surprised it was so thick and shiny!

I wonder if I could color with pastels instead of dangerous dyes.

Definitely don’t use dye or any chemicals. Eat Amal regularly. Try natural things like organic heena plus organic indigo powder half each. Baba Ramdev and some more YouTube videos are there to prevent graying hair. Moreover accept it and don’t take stress

It was in India, and suing back then.
Each one of us reacts differently to environmental toxins, life events, life's stresses, remedies
I had one white hair from grade 4th till after birth of my first child. I didn't react to chlorine in the water. The one white hair- is there for some babies too. It is recommended not to remove it.
My greys came after first birth. Then stopped. And then again after second birth. For me, my greying is not motivated by environmental toxins, but by popping out babies. Each one of us is different.
For me, iron supplements + vit D, and milk thistle based liver detox, have worked to slow down greying. Liver detox is not recommended for long time, it is very short term supplement- please research before you take, there are many on amazon.
I come from a family of a variety of skin tones and shades- and this has made me realize that people with more pigments- who tan easily- tend to grey slower. Also, people who have darker complexion have darker hair for longer- given they take care of it.
People with light skin will have silvery white hair, and will go well with a fuchsia lipstick ( my plan)
People with light skin will get white hair in eyebrows etc, will have to use mascara.
There are many things and theories, but don't please do not stress over white hair, not worth it!
