This is a very difficult time for all of us. Everybody is struggling in one way or the other.
Do what I may, I'm unable to stop worrying about my parents back in India, who have to continue working to provide 'essential services'.
Is there any way to go to India now (from US) if the worst happens? I am really scared, and worried. Does anyone know?
I heard there were some repatriation flights, and also mandatory quarantine of 14 days at a hospital/institution before one can go home.. This non-home quarantine could nullify the the whole point of rushing home in case of emergency... so should one just plan to go earlier itself?
I don't mean to trigger any negativity in these trying times, sorry! Only trying to find a way...
Please share whatever you know or suggest.

@Bubbles, i can understand your anxiety in these times. It is not negative thinking but trying to be aware and alert. It is to be appreciated. As far as I understand, the mandatory quarantine - very much exists at present - however, they have mentioned in the order clearly that there are always exceptions to the rule, such as true emergency and cases will be surely be decided on case to case basis in such situations. So, I feel you should not worry. However, it is better you do not plan a trip immediately unless in case of emergency, as then you will have to go through the mandatory quarantine rules for repatriation cases.

Hi OP, It is neither safe nor easy to travel in these times and stay put is the best approach unless essential.
Since dear GOI has banned all the flights, only way to come into country, right now, is repatriation flights which are not easy to book, since there are so many people and most have urgent reasons, so priority based they are picked. Then AI is not easy to connect to, their website crashes, says sold but then somehow people are able to book..

This is the only way and so far their running till Jun mid. You have look at their schedule for source/destination. Then yes, they have mandatory quarantine, not at home but hospital or hotel , you can pick 3/4/5 stars but no choice of hotels for you i guess. BTW, this is for your and parents safety. If we bring in virus, atleast they will be safe from us... vice versa.

For parents, do they have to go out for grocery etc. How about online order or you order for them from here? Most people is doing that and it is working fine. Also now, street vegetable sellers are also coming. Slowly they might start opening but yes, staying in is safer. How about hire someone to drop in stuff?

I am wishing so you do not get any emergency. Situation is very bad here and everywhere.

OP - I understand your concern and worry. Yes 14 days quarantine is compulsory. I read one report where this person was put in a small hotel, no lift, had to lug his luggage upstairs himself by stairs.

And how about coming back to USA. Have you checked the procedure if quarantine is compulsory. How about domestic flights,if you have to take any.

If you are not a US citizen then consider that as well when making your travel plans, in case the US changes any rules about entering the country.

Yes, Above people are correct. Only way to travel to India currently is through the repatriation flights. Also, i heard if you have kids who are not indian citizens, they are not allowed in the country - this is as of couple weeks ago, since they are prioritizing bringing home citizens stranded in other countries. No entry to OCI card holders, visa holders etc. I am not sure if this has changed yet. Just be careful while making plans. The rules are changing on a daily basis in these situations.

Are you perm resident or citizen? If so, you have all the rights to enter since US has most things open and quarantine is also voluntary, not mandatory it seems.
If on visa, then you need to think, if situation changes.
