I am overweight and had a baby last year. I started walking.Any of you tried Rujuta Diwekar’s diet plan? How was your experience? What were the results? Can someone suggest a good diet plan for weight loss based on South Indian food as per Rujutas guidelines? Experts please help.

Thank you so much for the reply. Initially I started to walk in my neighborhood and now started doing Leslie’s 3 mile walks. Rujuta suggests 8 small meals which is hard but I can do 6 small meals. I wake up by 6 am and go to bed by 9 30 pm.
Can you plz suggest a sample menu (with basic south Indian veg & non veg - chicken, fish, eggs) based on her food combinations and guidelines? If possible plz share your sample menu that you followed for weight loss. I find a lot of people following Rujutas North Indian meal plan online but none with South Indian menu.To be frank I can’t follow north menu in the long run so want to stick to my staple menu. plz help.

Anika I have a few questions. I heard that we must eat protein after any workout to prevent muscle loss.I eat a fruit n 2 dates as my 1st meal, wait for 20 mins and workout. Then as per Rujuta should I be eating little Indian breakfast alone (but that doesn’t have a lot of protein) ? Can I have a bit of both like Indian breakfast and some protein?

Try to workout on an empty stomach in the morning or have black coffee but if you get very hungry and want energy before workout..have a fruit.

After workout have a protein. If you are doing strength training, have the protein like whey shake or egg omelette etc and then have regular breakfast like idli, dosa.

So after workout do I have protein with little Indian breakfast in one go or do I maintain a gap of an hour or so between the two, like having my Indian breakfast as a mid morning snack ?
