I know most of the wonderful members are giving you tips on the baking part ,so you are in safe hands :) .
But Let me tell you OP, I am one of those who doesn't enjoy cooking at all. I am not a bad cook, but I am not very great either and I dont enjoy cooking by any means. My main idea is to wrap it up and get out of the kitchen as quickly as possible.
I cook for my family everyday, have some specialty dishes that come out well and get appreciation from everyone, but i HATE baking. I have no patience and have no interest in baking either. When my kid wants cake, I buy cake mix and finish the chore as soon as I can :) Just here to tell you that you aren't alone :)

Try boxed cake mixes first, usually easiest and no fail. And then go from there. Once you get the hang of your oven timings, it is os much fun to experiment.

I have found the timing on my oven varies so much from the times given in a recipe, so there was a lot of trial and error. Burning stuff is nothing but a fun part of learning to bake. Nothing to be ashamed about!!

to start with these are some, they are tried by my family multiple times and came out well. I am a big fan of natasha'skitchen blog and youtube. Most of the recipes are good.

    Marble cake recipe: Marble Cake
Chocolate cake : Black Forest Cake (just the cakes)
tres leches cake: Adukala Vishesham: Tres Leches Cake

if you buy quaker oats the recipe on the lid for oatmeal cookies works pretty well. I try cookies from all kinds of blogs and videos,

Caramel custards, puddings and flans are whole another story.

When you try a recipe for the first time, follow everything that says in the recipe. I watch my oven like a hawk. This is partly because it has uneven heating:blush:.

No. You don't need to turn the cookies.
I see many replies from others which are very helpful to you.
I think the main problem is your oven heating. Have you tried baking anything else? Like chicken, puffs? How is the oven temp in those?
Are you using a thin tray or thick tray? There are many things involved in the art of baking. Parchment paper sometimes makes a difference though. It's not necessary. I tried with and without parchment paper.
Use the middle rack. Mostly cookies will be ready in 15-25 minutes based on ur oven. You have get a hold of your oven. The recipe oven temp is totally different than our own oven temp. It will vary. It's a trial and error.
Get few packs of readymade pack and try one by one. Then you can try with all purpose flour and other ingredients. If you don't have readymade pack, try with all purpose flour and Coco powder. That gives you a basic chocolate cake. Your daughter will love it.
Have you tried puffs? Those are easy too.

    That’s always a success..

I have tried making cakes but until now all other baking has been disasters:(

I think I need to keep on trying until it works some day:)
