Living with HOPE in times of CORONA.

Those of us who grew up close to beaches must have made sandcastles in our childhood. Those who grew up far away from beaches made the house of cards. Some even used matchsticks or small flat stones to build their fancied homes. Later on, there were plastics to make bridges and what have you.
And then we destroyed them and started again. At times someone else destroyed them. Humans like to watch a little destruction that begins with sandcastles, house of cards and then improve their skill to escalate it.
History is witness to this strange hobby. Starting from localized destruction to mass destruction has filled the history pages in all civilizations. Sometimes in the name of religion or ideology or even opinion but destruction, all the same, was the trend.

Epidemics caused by viruses are not new. They attacked in the past also and we named them too-Plague and Malaria to very recent Chickengunia and Dengue. Now it is Corona. They say virus have always been there, for some we have developed immunity and treatment and for some we need to develop immunity and treatment.

Corona as Pandemic will leave huge destruction behind in form of loss of human life, jobs, economy and what not, may be character and compassion also.

The good part is we have the capacity to rebuild and there lies the HOPE.

    Dear HariLakhera,
Apart from viruses India was declared as a land of famine. That the theory was demolished with the green revolution is a matter of record.I was surprised that we have a bufferstock of over 50 million tonnes of foodgrains with warehouses bursting at the seams. It was therefore a wise move to give 5 kg grains free for 80 crore people. With over crowding, less than the desired level of nutrition and our outlook to take rough with the smooth will help us sail through the the current crisis."Eternal hope springs in the human breast.
    Regards.SLN

When times seem grim, there will also be new art and literature. I have already seen references to Corona in serial drama's on Indian Television.

I can see people writing long novels of the genre of Victor Hugo's "Les Miserables". For example, a novel-plot might have a man steal a roll of Toilet Paper, in a moment of unthinking desperation, and he would be arrested and sent off to jail. What with the work-from-home, and the already backlogged cases in the court system, he will end up spending a couple of decades in Jail. And then he'd be released, only to find his former nemesis waiting for him on the outside.

    Dear Hari Sir,

Every suffering is a learning experience for humanity be it at the individual level or collective level. Each one of them brings the opportunity to grow further into newer territory we have not seen before as humanity. Every such suffering also is trying to convey something to us and if we learn what is being conveyed, we can even address the root cause of the suffering. Sufferings are the stepping stones for growth and development and what we learn out of them is the benefit we get. Our hope is always to emerge stronger out of each such difficult situation. It is that hope that drives us to overcome such challenges.

There can be many of possibilities. In some places inmates have been released from overcrowded Jails because of fear of Corona attacking someone and it getting unmanageable. For these inmates, Corona has come as a blessing.
Then there are manufacturers and traders hoarding essential supplies for making good money in the black market.
    In the end Hope succeeds.

    Dear Shri Viswa,
Yes, we do learn from each suffering as individuals and as a society. This Virus will lead to some discoveries in medical science and ways to deal with the situations in future. Governments and other organisations will learn to manage such disasters.
As I understand, similar pandemic spread in 1918, more than 100 years back when population might have been one tenth of what is today.

    Dear Hariji,
    Good analysis.
Do we have any alternative except hope and wishful thinking? No.
When no alternative is there what is the point ? Think positive, learn from past, great lesson to humanity....all easily said than being.

calamities are the base on which future is built.Perhaps they are God sent, to make people decisive, healthy and strong. The losses are bye products that we have to receive individually or collectively. The world we will see after corona torture will be,I hope, altogether different ,practical to the core without assumptions and artificiality. It may take about 6 months
