    Dear Sir,
Thank you very much for your blessings. It means a lot to me.

I was surprised too to spot malli poo in market. The moment I saw I wanted to pick it up. You never know when it'll vanish in the market. :grinning::grinning:

I try but the website won't load from my home network. I can access using LTE but it's painfully slow, and 9 out of 10 times the login page times out. It's been this way for months. No clue what's up. I read but posting takes more patience than I can muster. :icon_pc:

An 8 kilobyte strip of RNA has upended life on this planet. Is nature really guided by a conscience or are all creatures, humans included, simply engaged in an unforgiving pursuit of survival at all costs?

Welcome back @Gauri03. We missed your insight here for a while and it is so frustrating to know that a simple internet connection issue prevented you from posting anything, but let you read the content. I hope you are working from home spending some time with your family. Keeping your brilliant children engaged at home should be a full-time job. :)

Ribonucleic acid, a nucleic acid present in all living cells, has the principal role to act as a messenger carrying instructions from DNA for controlling the synthesis of proteins. In some viruses, it is RNA rather than DNA carries genetic information. Both RNA and DNA are nucleic acids, and, along with lipids, proteins and carbohydrates, constitute the four major macromolecules essential for all known forms of life.

The above is the rationale for believing our cells have intelligence to grow. Every specie has intelligence built in the city of cells throughout the physical body. The cells are bound by the system within which they operate. The cells operating in the immune system function to find and destroy foreign substances that are not conducive to the body. The cells operating in the respiratory system takes oxygen needed and eliminate everything else. The cells in the digestive system enable collecting the vitamins and minerals besides energy needed for the body and so on. Every cell functions within its system accurately not crossing its limits.

Believing the nature around us as a macrocosm and every specie operating within this system as a microcosm, macrocosm enables all the microcosm to preserve and protect itself. When I read the book, "Einstein's Enigma" (a science fiction but with a lot of real science), I came to know nature maintains 32 different things at a certain level to make the life possible to exist on this planet (including carbon, oxygen, gravity, ozone layer to protect the species from the rays of the Sun, Light, etc.). Therefore, nature is a facilitator and it expects the species to draw whatever they need for them to survive on the planet and this is not possible without conscience or operating system. This proves the point, "everything we need in life is free, but everything we want is not". However, almost all species know this enabler should be left in its original form for all species to coexist. Some even help nature to remain a facilitator by contributing to it. However, human-beings are exceptions to this unwritten code of conduct. They destroy plants and trees for their own use without replacing them elsewhere, they hunt the animals for pleasure, they pollute the planet for achieving comforts in their lives, and so on. In some way or another, they are expressing superiority over other species not realizing each one of them has the right to coexist (most even contribute for retention of the planet in its original form) on this planet and use the planet only for their needs.

I believe human's ability to understand nature better than other species, must give them the responsibility to preserve and protect nature as is, as opposed to abusing it for their own benefits. They fail to understand a simple intelligence that exists from the time this planet came into existence can destroy the lives of human beings in the form of a virus that we are encountering now. While every specie has the right to survive using all the features already built into nature, do they have a responsibility (an unwritten code of conduct) to leave the planet the way found it? This wisdom has made me write that Tweet. Please forgive me for this long-winded answer.

Disclaimer: My post is just voicing my rampant thoughts. Not intended as an argument for or against your post

    @Viswamitra
I fully agree to the above statement. We, humans, have a responsibility to preserve and protect nature.

After learning about the Venice canal waters turning clearer and reduced pollution over Italy, China, and the US in a matter of days of cutting down on human activities, there need be no doubt on our single handed role is destroying the earth.

However, right on the heels of this conviction comes another conviction.

Survival of the fittest still overpowers conscience. That is how we are created. That is how all living creatures are created. That is also a law of the land. Mass extinction and mass wipe outs of species by stronger species have occurred periodically in the history of the Earth.

Pandemics that razed millions of humans have occurred even during periods when humans lived supposedly simpler lives.

If we were supposed to be like other animals, why were we given this unique ability to think, and build, and invent?
This also part of the design.

Even during this pandemic, I am able to drink clean water, watch programs on TV, and sleep in the comfort of a home. We are able to get minute by minute information. We are still able to keep in touch with family and friends. All because of the human evolution.

I cannot even imagine how today’s situation will be if we lived hunters and gatherers.

Can we humans really go back to living in the forests as hunters and gatherers? I don’t think so.
This is the way things will be.

Out of every calamity comes something good.
Maybe this period of quarantine will make us think of Earth more. Maybe the entire world can begin periodic quarantines every three/four months for a week and let Mother Earth breathe.

That is my only hope and prayer.

( I may not have addressed the issue correctly. But a lot of thoughts, pro and con, are running in my mind that I am unable to capture in words)

    Kamala,

Thank you for your response. I am definitely not taking it as an argument against the points I was making. But I thought it is important to clarify a few points.

Agreed. The reference to the virus's intelligence to destroy human life is just a reference to indicate how cellular intelligence is flawless as opposed to developed intelligence. The system that works in our body is far superior and sometimes beyond the comprehension of the developed human mind.

    Two answers to this question:

    1) I am not suggesting one has to live like animals to comply with the unwritten code of conduct.
    2) I am not against the man exploring nature and discovering new things. I welcome science.
My point was with a better discrimination man must be able to preserve and protect nature which sustains life on this planet through many steps as described in my original post.

The points I was making were human beings having an extraordinary discriminating faculty should use it to construct and not destruct nature. What gives the man the right to hunt animals for pleasure? I can understand if he hunts to feed himself and family. How many trees are felled to meet the needs of human beings without planting another tree? How many lives in the ocean are lost because of plastic contamination? Isn't climate change manmade? Weren't we polluting the air for our comfort without making additional effort to neutralize the effect of our actions and realized it too late?

I believe COVID-19 belongs to a family of viruses and the two prior such viruses are known as SARS (2003) and MERS (2012). The humans had enough time to study this family. Through this, human beings understood that there are some viruses some animals' immune systems can resist successfully which the human immune system can't handle. Humans need not go through this unnecessary pandemic had they used their intelligence in a constructive fashion.

    @Viswamitra
 I thought I agreed with you.
Perhaps I am not getting your point of relating this virus pandemic to man's ruining of earth's resources.

No, the Novel corona virus is an entirely new species that we did not know about earlier. Though a mutant of the earlier SARS and MERS, there is a lot we do not know about this virus.
Research takes time as you very well know.
