You have a fever, you are sick, don't think about something that is to happen. I too have this thought but then I think it is useless to worry about it. The best you can do for now, take care of your health, when you get better, try to brace up and may be even look for new openings if you get time.

@sarvantaryamini thanks . I do have the habit of worrying too much . Just trying to be positive during these tough times have been really difficult . I have been through recessions but this one seems little bit out of control . Past recessions i still had hope but this one is hopeless . Just staying home is not helping either . I was really looking forward to rest of 2020 . Need to go back to my gratitude journal to focus on positivity.

@mangaii This Coronavirus pandemic will give us all a lot to write in our gratitude journals. Once this crisis is over, I will be grateful for everyone that makes it healthy and alive. I will be grateful for food on my table, every bit of it. I will be grateful for having the luxury of being able to stay home and not having had to risk my health to earn a living. I will be grateful for the doctors that put their lives at risk to save others or even the grocery store worker that enabled me to stock up.
We have all taken our lives for granted. This is God’s way of telling us to be grateful and not take anything for granted.
The after effects of this will not be very pleasant, but I am sure we will all make it through. Take care.

I just can't wait to get back to my routine. WFH drains me more without fresh air, cutting down on walks, improper planning on working for home!

Just praying that we stay alive and cross this unprecedented event in our lives and pray for others who couldn’t.

For many USA nationals with OCI visa who are residents (or winter residents) in India, this letter from the US Government will be very relevant.

There have been many cases of 55+ age group USC-OCI, retirees, or independently wealthy, who go to India in the North American Winters each year. Many who had gone on such snow-bird annual migration, are still in India, wondering whether they are better off over there, rather than return to USA for spring-summer seasons when India would get just too hot, and humid.

The USA government is telling them that the usual Consular Services for Citizens Abroad would be minimal to non-existent.

    Full letter:
    Subject: Global Health Advisory -
    Level 4 Do Not Travel,
    March 19, 2020

The Department of State advises U.S. citizens to avoid all international travel due to the global impact of COVID-19. In countries where commercial departure options remain available, U.S. citizens who live in the United States should arrange for immediate return to the United States, unless they are prepared to remain abroad for an indefinite period.
U.S. citizens who live abroad should avoid all international travel. Many countries are experiencing COVID-19 outbreaks and implementing travel restrictions and mandatory quarantines, closing borders, and prohibiting non-citizens from entry with little advance notice. Airlines have cancelled many international flights and several cruise operators have suspended operations or cancelled trips. If you choose to travel internationally, your travel plans may be severely disrupted, and you may be forced to remain outside of the United States for an indefinite timeframe.

On March 14, the Department of State authorized the departure of U.S. personnel and family members from any diplomatic or consular post in the world who have determined they are at higher risk of a poor outcome if exposed to COVID-19 or who have requested departure based on a commensurate justification. These departures may limit the ability of U.S. Embassies and consulates to provide services to U.S. citizens.

For the latest information regarding COVID-19, please visit the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) website.

You are encouraged to visit travel.state.gov to view individual Travel Advisories for the most urgent threats to safety and security. Please also visit the website of the relevant U.S. embassy or consulate to see information on entry restrictions, foreign quarantine policies, and urgent health information provided by local governments.

Travelers are urged to enroll in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) to receive Alerts and make it easier to locate you in an emergency. The Department uses these Alerts to convey information about terrorist threats, security incidents, planned demonstrations, natural disasters, etc. In an emergency, please contact the nearest U.S. Embassy or Consulate or call the following numbers: 1(888) 407-4747 (toll-free in the United States and Canada) or 1 (202) 501-4444 from other countries or jurisdictions.

If you decide to travel abroad or are already outside the United States:

    • Consider returning to your country of residence immediately using whatever commercial means are available.
    • Have a travel plan that does not rely on the U.S. Government for assistance.
    • Review and follow the CDC’s guidelines for the prevention of coronavirus.
    • Check with your airline, cruise lines, or travel operators regarding any updated information about your travel plans and/or restrictions.
    • Visit travel.state.gov to view individual Travel Advisories for the most urgent threats to safety and security.
    • Visit our Embassy webpages on COVID-19 for information on conditions in each country or jurisdiction.
    • Visit the Department of Homeland Security’s website on the latest travel restrictions to the United States

So, we are "essential" employees and expected to be at work because university went online but it's still open. We had one week to move our courses online. Our kids are home as all others. Our research labs are down to essential people (no more than 2) and we had to euthanize our animals because no one knows if even essential people will be able to get in. We are now working through Camtasia and Zoom and a multitude of other online software struggling to get everything in place.

We have 7 and 4 years old kids who came to our offices for 2 days and now we are splitting our day so one of us can stay home with the kids. So, if your kids are in college and their lectures aren't up to their standard, please remember, we are trying our best while also trying to keep our students, our children, and ourselves healthy.

I am also learning that I am not bad at parenting after all. We have a homeschooling schedule for kids and we actually accomplish quite a bit in a day while enjoying our time together.

Today, we read, wrote a gratitude journal, did a science experiment to make eggs float, learned about Iceland, baked brownies, painted paper cups, learned to draw from Mo Willems, did math problems, and took a walk in the mountains behind our house.

Kids are doing great and we haven't felt cooped up yet. the fresh mountain air and all the snow might be helping!
