I know, some of you reading this, might think, why despite being a woman, I hate celebrating this day..

I believe, there is no point in praising and being grateful towards women ONLY for a single day in a year..We deserve to be treated with respect and gratitude throughout our lives..

I would start celebrating and cherishing this day, when my fellow human beings (both men and women) truly respect a woman for what she is!!!

    If you are a man:

    • Respect your Mother (irrespective of her qualifications, job etc) the same way you respect your father in your house.
    • If you like a girl and she dislikes you, leave her alone..Don’t torture her physically or emotionally.
    • After marriage, consider your wife as your equal and as a best friend.
    • In your workplace, respect a woman and her expertise towards job..Don’t say that she got promoted easily as she’s a girl..Please stop having pre conceived notions about her.
    • Please stop thinking that a woman’s career is over if she has a kid..If she is willing to balance both her work and family, what bothers you? Don’t discriminate her based on this factor.
    • If you are a dad, there is nothing wrong in helping your wife, for taking care of kids.. Remember this, you and your wife are jointly responsible for bringing up kids..Help your wife with household chores irrespective of whether she goes to job or not..
    • Please stop being egoistic and judgemental towards women.
    • Don’t talk badly about a woman’s character nor judge her based on the clothes she wears.
    If you are a Woman:

    • Don’t listen to this society which says that you are inferior when compared to men..Remember this always, both men and women are always equal.
    • If you are a mother, don’t discriminate your son and daughter..Raise your daughter the same way like your son..Teach household chores to both your son and daughter equally..Tell them to respect others irrespective of their gender.
    • If you’re a mother in law, treat your daughter in law like a friend and don’t judge her for her own choices..She need not listen and abide by your rules.. Respect her individuality.. Don’t be over possessive towards your son and remember and accept the fact that your DIL is an important person in your son’s life.
    • Don’t pester any girl with personal questions like when is your marriage and why you don’t have kids yet? etc..
    • Don’t ask a woman to leave her job just because she is married or having kids..Leave that decision to that woman and don’t interfere in her life.
    • Don’t talk badly about a woman’s character nor judge her based on the clothes she wears.
    • Don’t expect anything from anyone just because you are a woman..Remember this always, you are always equal to a man and you aren’t a weaker person.
According to me, We all as a society, should change ourselves and respect and accept a woman, for what she is, throughout our life and not on a single day.

I hope, what I wish, happens soon!!!

We don’t have a Happy Man’s day because all 365 days of the year belong to them. By having one day dedicated to us poor women, we are emphasizing and celebrating gender disparities. Every damn day of the year belongs to us. This day is like a reminder that we are different from men.

    Ya, what's going on.

One of my very sexist extended relative, kept trying to have a boy and now after few failed attempts, she keeps sending this women's day stuff. I do not know what to make of it.

Yes, I really wonder why some prefer a boy child over a girl..When I go out with my girls, I am usually asked whether my both kids are girls... It's difficult to change such people.

In tamil society they say in tamil " four persons would speak read describe - in four different ways".
This four is symbolic of society. Though society made of individuals, but it is strange that each individual is afraid of society. Bold ones move ahead but majority would taken always the beaten path.
But the word women contained men implying but for her wo-oing there can not be men.
I salute all women irrespective of their status in society.
My best wishes to all sisters.
Why a day dedicated by UNO FOR women of the world - one would like to Google.

    Regards.

Stop and smell the roses! That is the essence.
We pray to God everyday, but dedicate certain days to certain manifestations. If we celebrate the same way everyday it loses importance and would get boring. Do we cook elaborately every day? Does it mean other days we don't eat?

This month is dedicated to women, where I work. It does not mean that during other months we do not exist.

These dedicated days serve two purposes. One is how far we have yet to go and the other is how far we have come.

Your opening post addresses the former issue. Written on this special day your contribution gets more visibility, weight, and makes people stop for a moment to think, reflect, and perhaps change their outlook for the betterment of women.
You just observed woman's day by writing the opening post. Was it a hype?

This dedicated days is also a reflection on how far we have come. This day is to remember all those who worked hard to change the society.
    • Girls in India today get an education because of Savithri Phule
    • Women can be High court judges showed Anna Chandy
    • We vote today because of Susan B. Anthony
    • Women are doctors today because of Susan Blackwell
    • Rukmini Devi Arundale who proved women can be elected to the Rajya Sabha. We have Kalakshetra because of her.
    • Rani Lakshmi Bai Jhansi who was crucial in starting the "quit India movement"
    ... so many more.

This is the day to not only think of these great ladies' contributions to society, but also respect them for suffering and humiliations they went through and overcame, by we rising to the high standards they envisioned.

This is the day to tell our daughters and granddaughters about all these women and to encourage them to be leaders of tomorrow's world.

Teach our daugthers and granddaughters that to focus on improvement, solving problems, and getting out of their comfort zones is the way to achieve great heights. Encourage them to identify the driving force that made these women do and achieve what they did.

    Society does not change overnight.
An annual check up is required.

I support International Woman's day for what is truly is for.
We should not just expect others to change, but also make it our responsibility to turn this day meaningful for the younger generations.
