But why! Keep IL and your 4 besties and 1 not-so-bestie in their own realms. The mind boggles to think of not-so-bestie coming here and reading that thread plus your posts in general. :grinning:

    Ha ha.
But in general my threads are honest ones and if at all I suggest her this site to do anonymous venting and she finds out that particular thread and gets mad at me ,it's fine as the thread is a very honest one.

Never know my many friends may very much be here.

This made me think you trouble your kids in their studies :nomouth:
They promise to study and they are into something else and it annoys you :grin:

I am sure everyone uses Panchatantra. For other people's children, not all five are applicable.
Don't mind me. Having fun with besties is OK. Be careful about getting too involved, or entangled.

Yes; that response was a total surprise, even uncharacteristic, and quite enjoyable to read.

Mostly no compunction...:lol: You are such a phorengi, aren't you! Or do you know what it stands for?

About students with exams to prepare for hanging out with besties... in India, one makes friends faster than in the phoren. Meeting people and going out with them would be the break needed from intense study and exam prep. And they help too.. such as waiting for exams to get over to celebrate b'days. :grinning:

In some part of the previous century, if I was preparing for an important exam, and we lost power, and neighbors espied me studying with the flickering light of a thick, brave but not very bright candle, they'd send over their best lantern with the youngest kid who could be trusted to carry it over. : ) Of course, the caveat was that their kid wasn't studying for the same exam. :grazy:

You should go to the des more often. :hello:

This is the kind of situation where it is safe for me to assume that you are laughing WITH me.

Once upon a time, when in des, I heard that students who use the street lamp light to study for exams will grow up to be high court judges. I never figured out what it meant, but apparently there was one such case in the Madras Presidency of the old times (pre independence of India, may be?).

Why didn't they study during the day time? And why did they have to burn the midnight oil?

Not my thought. But remembered a joke most probably seen in IL.:grinning:

But many many years back a lesson on Sir M Visvesvaraya (he used the street lights to study for his exams) had us thinking (me and my friends) Sir MV (as he's fondly called ) is just like us who studied for the exam in the nth hour. He kept playing whole day during the day and had to use the street light to finish his preparation

Quote or give a link to that joke.

As for daytime studies, you know that there are questions on that I cannot ask someone else's child!!
