Folks - Has anyone here got the air fryer attachment as shown here for the instapot from mealty? Is it worth trying for our desi dishes? I don't have an air fryer and since I have two instapots, I was hoping this would do the trick. Anyone buy it or hear about reviews from friends?

You can buy separate air fryer in that price. You can make bindi fry, brinjal fry, broccoli fry. All will b fried but not crispy like oil fried. Taste will be different. Only if you are health conscious and don’t mind taste different, you can buy it.

I don't have the space for a separate air fryer.

instant pot also has a similar lid if you want to try which fits 6 qt , heard it works the same as a full fledged air fryer . but as deepthi said above you can buy an air fryer in that price but if space is an issue then lid is good enough i guess...i make all indian stir fry veggies ,pakodas, samosas etc , even fried gulab jamun balls few days back with no difference in taste if i may say so. i am yet to try a cake in it though.

Hi. I have an airfrier and used for fries like okra, tindora and
Potato. After u cut veggies drizzle little oil w salt and put it in for 20min and needs a shake in btw. I tried it long ago, right now due to space constraint I packed it in storage not using. Using instant pot for steaming veggies like u do one min pressure cook veggies w v little water and salt. And release the pressure immediately after its done w cooking mode. You can see in Facebook forums where ladies post easy methods for cooking. I am doing this for steaming broccoli carrots sometimes other veggies then sauté in pan with tadka. It’s saving time.
Air frier is good for few recipes like fries, heating up frozen samosas, ghobi 65.. if u add little more oil taste is still the same. If u r meat eater u can bake chicken or fish etc make it healthy. But I personally felt time consuming as until u get to learn how it works for each item
Needs a little learning curve w these devices.

This pull the wire basket and "shake in between" aspect of the airfryer cannot be replicated in the hot-lid-with-turbo-fan adapter for the instant pot.
I am using Airfryer for roasting fish and chicken(drumsticks, thighs). The learning curve is not too long, especially if you had watched a few of the youtube videos on internet.

the accessory basket that comes with the IP lid has small handles to shake the contents as needed . in other regular air fryers you can simply remove the basket with the outer handle and shake and put it back . with the lid format , you open the lid , then you take that basket out , stir and put it back . need to be little more careful handling those small handles on either side . and also even with 6qt IP , the batches would have to be small i think.

Now I'm curious. Which airfryer do you have?

I had this happen with the IP too but now I use it exclusively for a lot of cooking. I have three IPs in the house :)

I fry fish and chicken for the kids. It would be great if I can use the airfryer for that.
