A couple minutes after posting in this thread, I go to another page, and found this at the bottom of the page. These algorithms... are quicker these days!!

Isn't it the responsibility of US State department to side with the Citizenry, and safeguard their peace and safety ? Why do they issue visas without getting an affidavit of support from the DiL ? Why aren't they asking THE THREE FILTER QUESTIONS at the Visa Interview ?:
    • 1. Is it True ? (referring to what the DiL had said on social media)
    • 2. Is it Necessary? (referring to the PIL's intended US visit)
    • 3. Is it Kind ? (referring to PIL's intended behavior during US stay)

@anika987 busy since last weekend so sorry for the late response. But I owe you an apology so this post. I didnt mean to hurt you or any other SAHM.

It was a tongue-in-cheek comment as I know you are a great mom and a home maker.

Luxury doesnt have to equate with money fluff - it is being able to do what gives you happiness , what gives you solace.
To a woman who is in the same place as her parents, visiting a parent, who is sick and taking care of them may not seem like a luxury. To a woman in overseas, it is. To me both are - because to provide your loved ones with your presence , being there when the need you is a privilege, no matter who you are. Something that no riches in the world can compensate. Then isnt it a luxury?

I have been on both sides. I took a break of 2.5 years for each of my kids. Being a SAHM for with a baby and a preschooler was no joke. I probably worked the hardest during those days, Yet I consider it a luxury. Because - to be able to feed good warm food to your children/hubby. To be there to play with them/ to watch them play , to provide security and comfort, to be there when they need you, to kiss a boo-boo , to get a sudden hug, to sing rhymes, letting them be mummy's helpers, being with them each minute they are sick - that is a privilege, one of the biggest blessings in life.
Of course , it wasnt just fun and fluff- I was sleep deprived, had no me time, suffered some depression, felt like I wasnt good enough, no time for my own health, own grooming.

imo, being a good SAHM is the hardest job in the world - because we set our bar so high. But it is also the best job in the world - to know that you are nurturing young ones and that you are the best mummy your kids can have because no one else loves them as much as you do.

I see you as a great home maker - you take of your health, your grooming - such a good role model for your kid. You make hot fresh healthy food for your family for every meal - do you even realise what a blessing that is in today's world? you supervise and teach your daughter, you worry about your DH's well being and take action on his behalf , He is able to work from 6.30 am to 12am , not worry about your daughter or home - because you are holding the fort. You worry about not being enough without realising how great you are. you make one hell of a difference in their lives , it doesnt matter so much if they dont realise it, it is frustrating that you dont. I want to give you one "Kuttu" on your head and say "You do you, Girl" .

You are unable to go to work as you dont have a supportive environment, so as such you being a SAHM isnt by choice. Still aren't a lot of the things that you get to do by being at home, a real blessing ? you and your family will not get to have the same life style when you start working , you do realise the trade offs?

This low self esteem that comes with being a SAHM is a societal problem - somehow we have it in our blood the one who brings the mullah is the only contributing member. We have to change that mindset - you and me :sunglasses:

IL was filled with quite some heavy threads this weekend and I was thinking about one thread as I walked into Safeway to pick up some bananas. There were Girl Scouts selling cookies by the entrance. They cheerfully took turns to call out, "Would you like to buy some cookies? .... Have a nice day!"

As I was leaving the store, as if by rote they went: "Would you like to buy some cookies? .... Have a nice day!" Both the girls were surprised into temporary silence when I stopped to buy some cookies. : ) The girls, their guide, and I all burst out laughing.
