    Hello all,

Last week my husbands US visa (business purpose) got rejected. The case went as:

B1 visa was applied. He is an IT professional, designation - delivery manager, work experience of more than 12yrs. With the current company for almost 4 yrs. Age 39 (turning 40 in 3 weeks). Married with kids. All expance paid by the company.

    These questions were asked:

    vo: what's your designation?

    A: Delivery Manager

    Vo: total salary

    A: told the gross salary

Vo: have you every travelled outside your country?

A: yes. To singapore and Malaysia in 2011.

    Vo:anywhere after that?

    A:no

Vo: sorry your visa is rejected this time.

    Should he reapply??
How can we make the case more concrete. How should he have answered?? How should I prepare for the answers to be given. How to prove strong ties as he carried all the relevant papers but none were seen by the VO. How to be more prepared??

    Tia

You should probably check your documentation and see if everything is correct. Also, I have heard that visa acceptance or rejection is totally a matter of luck. You can reapply if you want, but don't think too much into it. Someone I know expressed the same frustration - they tried 3 times in a row and it got rejected, finally they got visa, but the person was not so happy with the whole experience.

    Hi Angel,

So many details are missing here for any one of us to even give suggestions. Was he going to travel on-site for business ? Did the company give him all the appropriate documentation ? Was he going to travel alone or with the entire family ?

One of the things an immigration officer is supposed to do is to check for potential to commit visa violations. So if you have a valid return ticket, or kids/wife staying back home in school, or an L1 petition, these things can boost the case to prove that you don't have any intention to land in USA and then abscond.

Regardless, please don't get heart-broken for something as random as a US visa rejection. Many people say that it is not an algorithmic process. The visa officer's response is subject to discretionary considerations and petitioners might not be entitled to get a detailed response.

Cheer-up and move on in life.

This is the reality. Go on with your life. There is an old magazine article written my a doctor-novelist Abraham Verghese that had this segment:
