    DOUBT, WHICH HAS COME EASY

We all are aware of the hard work we had put before we could say ‘yes I got it'. It can relate to early life at the workplace when we had to work our way up the ladders in our professional careers particularly when we had no god-fathers. It took us longer than we had anticipated. On the way, there were disappointments, heart-burnings, and distrust when we saw guys moving up the ladders without much difficulty because they had cultivated the habit of ‘yes-man-ship' borne out of sycophancy.

We see a lot of people around us bathing in the glory of a good life. Their path to glory was paved with soft –cozy carpets. Money is never a problem because they do not have to work hard for it. These guys do not torment themselves with the notion of inner conscience and hence they can be excused for that. But what about those who have a conscience always nudging them from inside?

Maybe we are not one of them but we do have some experience of having something for which we did not work hard or did not expect. It may be some unexpected increment or promotion that came our way not because we deserved it but because the boss was kind to us for his reasons best known to him. This is what we have to doubt. The intentions behind such gestures may be riddled with unseen and yet to be asked favors. The boss may be expecting from you something in return that you may not be in a position to refuse because your conscience does not permit it.

Anything that comes to us easily either promotion or money or success needs to be analyzed in depth.

    Dear @HariLakhera,

Imagine the plight of scores of people who perform menial jobs, like manual scavenging, lifting heavy loads in mandis etc. They can’t expect any kind of promotion for all the physical effort on their part. They are neither respected by the society nor paid a reasonable pay, which could enhance the quality of their lives.
The only person in this world who would serve you till the end without expecting any returns is your Mother!

    Dear Hariji,
If something good comes unexpected first take it, enjoy it. Do not be a doubting Thomas! Doubting everything and too much of analysis takes away the joy!
Yes....there is a possibility of expecting something cannot be ruled out. It can be thought of later when that situation comes. Enjoy your promotion or success for now!

    :hello:Dear @HariLakhera sahib,
Neither Hard work nor hardly work matters at all. But you had raised valid points. Days are different but your feeling at your present age is natural.
    2. Only smart workers are needed by modern world employers.
    3. We are suggested to take leaf out of successful people. But one shudders to follow as media reports about “ skeletons” in their cupboards after which so called successful persons go behind bars or commit suicide or mange to go and relax in casino beyond shores of their motherland.
    4. The lesson is not that we should envy those successful guys who seemed to work less and turn fabulously rich .
5.In modern life one got to approach issues especially the ones with out of character with skepticism with suspicion with dubiousness. In online world this is more true. But at the same time one should realise that suspecting can not be a way of life.

    6. In my recent,
    Family Apprehension, Pension & Gumption
I had mentioned how I was saved by skin of my teeth for suspicion.

God - your world not run by rumours & suspicions.

    Dear Hari Lakhera,
Sometimes we dont see good things in the mirror. We notice a blackspot or wrinkle.Unknown to you, your face may have radiance which is not reflected in the mirror. There are cases of favouritism for various reasons but every case cannot be painted with the same brush.Enjoy the gift without looking for alibi.

There is a saying in Tamil" Nallaar oruvar uLarel avar poruttu ellorukkum peyyum mazhai""If there is a single good person, taking him into consideration Rain God blesses all with rain.
All cannot be painted with the same brush. There are ever so many good things happening in this world without any expectation even in the distant future. We need not create motive behind every help we receive.

Be that as it may, when it rains, the one who claims credit for it, gets that promotion or increment that the OP had mentioned. Self-doubt of various kinds that can all be summed up by "what sort of low grade outfit it is, if it would want me for a member ?" can be the cause of much lost opportunity in life.

If self-doubt comes easy to one, life can be limited in all manner of things. Showing up to claim the opportunity (I am sure there is a meme that goes "80% of success is just showing up ...etc") for whatever is the game of life.

No doubt, Mother is the epitome of selfless sacrifice. Unfulfilled expectations lead to frustration.

I would rather be cautious if that good comes from an unexpected source. Enjoy it by all means but we have to be ready for repay also. If the same good is coming from a known and trusted person there is no harm.
The main point is, should we accept undue favors? In most cases we know what we deserve and what is due to us.

Long lasting success with moral justification is a product of hard work which includes smartness also. Otherwise working hard like a donkey will keep one donkey for life.
It is said that one should trust people unless proven otherwise and I believe in that. Therefore, anything coming fro trusted source is always welcome because we know there is no string attached. However, one has to be smart enough to know what is duly deserved and what is not.
There is always a dark side in the life of most humans, successful or otherwise. Some die with that dark secret, some are exposed in their life time. The best or worst part is no one is surprised as there are cases to cite as an example.
When we say 'be careful', we mean be careful in every respect of life.
