After a customer check out, only the white bed-sheets and pillow cases are surely washed and ironed. Hotels do not wash the comforter or blanket after a customer checks out. These are laundered or dry-cleaned less often.

How do you deal with this knowledge?
    - carry your own bed linen? (what if you are flying? and the risk of bringing bedbugs back to home?)
    - remove the blanket/comforter, use only the thin bed-sheet, turn up the heater?
    - layer a bed-sheet under the blanket/comforter, slide in carefully and sleep with minimal tossing and turning so you do not come in contact with the blanket?

Set the thermostat to a comfortably high temperature, and discard the comforter when you sleep. If the spouse is washed frequently enough*, use her/him as the comforter.

*Quite often the snore/smell of the spouse tends to have a soothing effect --- even though those things in the abstract could evoke revulsion in anyone else.

    Yeah.
I am sure you might have noticed fitting sheet and flat sheet below the comforter. Whenever I stay in hotel I sleep between the two. The flat sheet will be tucked in . So i use that as my blanket and cover it with comforter . It will help to avoid direct contact with comforter/ blanket. Also adjust temperature to comfortable levels ( not too cold).

I assume all those sheets and pillow covers are washed properly. I travel multiple times per year and it's not easy to carry sheets. I use a backpack or a small cabin baggage ( I dont check in for domestic flights) . After reaching home I dont mix my clothes with others ,but wash it separate as soon as possible. So far no issues. Same style is followed if I travel with my family.

Not knowing this so far and having stayed at numerous hotels normally hasn't lead to any catastrophic consequences. So will continue doing what I currently do - i.e. nothing!!

Parents do this especially if it’s train journey.

Sometimes even I noticed that the sheets had few strands of hair. So we immediately called housekeeping staff to change them.

I knew this already. Never use those comforters, but would turn the temperature to a comfortable level, and wrap myself with my personal sheet (a light weighted comforter) which i normally carry wherever I go.
