Thanks for the information Anika. I have totally avoided ghee thinking that it's full of fat and will increase weight. What ghee do you take everyday?

I usually go for the organic butter unsalted.Make ghee at home.Sometimes I go for regular butter.
I like to mix organic and non organic products on and off

But why is everyone telling it’s not good for weight loss.

Earlier rice, wheat, veggies, fruits all had minimum processing. But in this age even basic things like milk is causing so many hormonal issues.

Which rice do you recommend for weight loss? Brown, white or handpounded?

I know portion is the key but I feel after only avoiding all these carbs( rice, wheat, sugar) I’m able to see some difference in weight.

Also these days I feel there is lot of inflammation in my body. How to reduce that with our typical south Indian vegetarian diet?

Inflammation can be reduced by intermittent fasting.

I have personally done 24 hour hard dry fasts and the results are amazing but there has to be Prep work for this and one should not blindly start doing this.

Rice hand pounded is the best.I go for regular rice but always add ghee and veggies and dal and mindful of what I eat.Trust me when I say I did this and added workouts and the belly fat melted like a charm.

Dairy, wheat are so processed these days and not like yester years. However, pure cow milk is very good.

there is no good or bad food but how we make it,combine it with, the time we eat and how mindful we are.It takes time to learn but once we make it a lifestyle,it’s great.

There is a lot to fitness and lot of things to learn and yet to learn.

    Commitment is the key.

Hi sweets gals, you are welcome.

Intermittent fasting is great but I would suggest not to directly jump into it.

For a month, follow the tips and adjust to that lifestyle.

Then try to follow 12 to 16 hours fasting for 3 to four days.Eat by 6 pm and break the fast after 12 to 16 hours.Keep the same time and see how you feel.

    do that on and off

24 to 72 hour dry fasts are the ultimate.
Personally would not recommend more than 24 to max 36 hours.

Prep work includes proper dehydration and healthy diet a week before you start that fast.

Soft fast is you can brush the teeth, take shower and wash hands when in fast(no food/no water)

Hard fast which I do for 24 hours will require zero contact with water.I don’t recommend this until you are healthy without any physical ailments or thyroid/diabetes problems, have good energy to sustain.I do it only once in 3 months personally.

Intermittent fasting benefits includes clearer and calmer mind/clean body and reduced inflammation.

You can google more for further details.

    Hi @Needtobestrong

You really need to be strong in this journey, and it is not impossible.

    Here we go:-

It is the hardest part. It would be great if you have a companion to travel this journey with you.
I have a few colleagues, who are on the same boat, and ordering paleo food, or low carb for BF and lunch at work is easy and fun. Also, we take turn and cook varieties from internet recipes.
Some of us are doing this together with their spouse or moms or sisters etc... and it is better to have someone in the same boat, than sailing alone.

Secondly don't be too strict. I would always speak to myself and say that I am not a super model to maintain zero size all the time. I am a normal human being, and I am here to live. So, eating in between or cheating here and there is absolutely fine with me.

You can't cheat 24/7. Just one cup of ice cream in 2 weeks, a slice of pizza or briyani once in a while. Those are not your regular menu.
Avoiding them completely would be stressful, specially when everyone at your home are consuming.

What is important is to maintain your regular food - that means, a complete life style change.
Like eating smaller portion, less carb and more vegs or protein in your plate. Healthy snacks like fruits or nuts whenever you are hungry in between and loads of water to flush all the detox in the body.

I have a smart watch that counts my steps and reminds me to walk if I am sitting at one place for more than an hr.
Like taking the steps instead of lift, and choosing to walk shortest distance instead of car or bike are the smallest changes that has biggest impact in my fitness journey.

Avoiding sugar completely is important. If possible start with less sugar for tea/coffee and slowly ditch it.
    And have early dinner.
Usually I eat at 7 and then do the kitchen work like cooking for others. Otherwise, we will be able to eat only after 9pm, that too watching TV series; hence unconsciously and then sleep within an hr - which is not good.

Oh come on... Festivals are to enjoy. So don't bother.
Just that, if you are in a diet journey, and your body is used to it, you can't eat too much. Specially you won't like sugary taste as before.

Husband, kids, in laws are all important. But we are very important for ourselves.
Wake up 30 mins earlier than your regular time and do 20 mins yoga, and 10 mins crunching exercise in the morning.
Drink honey with lemon mixed in warm water in an empty stomach.
Continue your chores, and then eat B'fast.
This way, you allow your body to fast for a longer time; hence to burn more calories.

Get an orbitreck machine at home (very cheap, easy) and do the cycling for 20 mins per day - anytime of your choice. once you are pro in it, increase the timing.
If you can, sweeping the house, garden and mopping the floor are great exercise, that burn a lot of calories.

No need to cook separate meal, just avoid too much carb, fried items and sweets from what everyone eats at home.

Perhaps meditation helps... Yoga or counselling to come out of your depressed state.
But I often get out with friends or focus on my career whenever I am down personally. This helps just to divert the mind.
Once the mood is clear, you become normal including your sweet cravings too.
But it is great to talk to someone or vent here whenever you are down, instead of retroting to sweets.

As Anika said, hitting hard on the gym helps a lot with emotional imbalance too.

How do you break the fast? I mean do you consume anything which is high in protein or regular food?
