What Aryuvedic Alternatives do you use, rather than using Laxatives.

Long term use of laxatives (even fiber such as metamucil, citrucel, etc) are bad for you.

Yes adding a tsp of cooking castor oil while making tadka for pappu charu is great for digestion. This is tried and tested.

That Telugu word in Tamil it is called Rasam. In kannada it is also called saaru/charu.

    excerpt from wikipedia:
Rasam ([IMG]pronunciation (help·info)), chaaru, saaru or kabir is a South Indian dish (eaten with other dishes or by itself),[1] traditionally prepared using kokum or tamarind juice as a base, with the addition of tomato, chili pepper, black pepper, cumin and other spices as seasonings. Steamed lentils can be added along with any preferred vegetables.[2] Nowadays, all the seasonings required are combined and ground beforehand into rasam powder, which is available commercially. Chilled prepared versions are also marketed commercially.[3]
