    Happy international Men's day.

In modern days, men have rather a tough life compared to women, yet their voices go unheard.

Men too are discriminated and expected to lead their life according to certain social standards. Sadly they are locked inside an invisible Gender box!!!

Their masculinity is challenged when they chose to get out of that box.

If they express their emotions (be it sadness, tears, affection etc) they are called ladyboys.

If they help their spouse or mother in household chores, they are called slaves.

If they chose to study or work in certain sectors which are considered unmanly (Eg :Tailoring), their capacity is doubted.

When it comes to Dowry matters, regardless of their choice, they are judged for being not man enough.
If they take, they are heartless. If not, they have a problem.

If they listen to their wives, they are henpecked. If not, they are abusive.

If their wives happened to have careers, these husbands are labeled as exploiters. If not, they are too conservative.

It is a constant battle between their conservative patriarchal society and their modern day lifestyle.

Let's think out of the box for a better society! FB_IMG_1574130084461.jpg

Didn't know such a day existed!

Yes, men too suffer from gender related issues though the suffering of women is more recognized. I might get brickbats for this, but sometimes I think the 'leaving mother's house' makes things easier for the woman... it is a logical separation from parents. Doesn't happen as much by default for men.

Ha ha ha... ya, a little bit of exaggeration on their day :joycat:

But if this is normal on women's day, why not the above pic?

I want to know if the set of parents are his or hers.
One might suspect they are "hers" - the one who is sitting on the shoulders of her own mummy and knitting something. A mil would never let dil sit on her shoulders like that.
They all look oriental. Husband moving in with her parents is quite common when home prices are exorbitant, and after-school care can cost a pretty yen.

Its not easy for them. They are judged either way.
If they chose to leave parents, the society judge them as if they are henpecked, or selfish, or irresponsible or whatever.
They will have to face the consequences if they chose to live in the same city.
The only escape is to run away from the country, unfortunately. :tearsofjoy:

But if they stay chose to stay with parents, the hell break lose with so much DIL Vs MIL problems from all corners for most men.
Balancing would never be in their hand unless they take abusive route or play silent spectator.
Again, there is a risk of being judged for both

On top of it, they have this ego - that too gets very fragile when society pokes their nose into everything a man does.

It is not easy to be a man in our world.

    yeah agreed.
also men are expected to work and earn a living no matter what the circumstances. whereas women do have a choice (all right , only in some cases) to work for a living or stay at home. at least, if the woman happens to be married into a well to do family, she can chose not to work for a living.
a woman can be a stay-at-home -mom but at least in india a man cant be a stay-at-home-dad.
they are always expected to provide for the family-the parents, the non performing brother, the demanding sister ,the high expenditure wife as well as kids.
they are expected to have a good job and earn good money and they are also harshly judged if they dont make up to the expectations of others.
they are expected to stay late at work, work all days in week, travel to remote places immediately - wherever the boss orders. at work, men always get the heavy end.....they cannot say i cant go to this remote place for security concerns , something a woman always can. they cant say i cant stay back late at night for whatever reason.

and marriage, even though i may wax eloquent about my MIL being not so good and vice versa, he has to make peace with both. its not easy to stay with parents after marriage (specially if the wife doesnt get along with MIL) and it is even difficult to stay apart. of all the cases i have seen, every single one, men are emotionally blackmailed by their parents to keep staying with them even when it is very obvious that it is detrimental to all. they are expected to live by their parents dreams.

You always think out of the box girl...

Since this thread is not about this picture, I leave your imagination to you.
I am OK with whatever you think :beer-toast1:

As for men moving in with parents for convenience, they should bear with whatever comes with that.
After all, you should know that you will become bald if you shave your head.
But, there are men who have no choice. Despite of owning a comfy home, they are expected either to live with parents after marriage.
And the issue is not living with parents, but handling the family politics that comes with it.

    That's an interesting observation.

Yes, women can stay at home if their educational qualification is not upto the job market
They can stay at home if their Hs earn adequately to run the family
They can stay at home if they feel like doing so
They can stay at home if they feel uncomfortable at the work place
They can stay at home if they are unable to balance both work and home
And the list is so big for women who chose to stay at home.

But for men, regardless of their status (be it rich, single dad, sick or whatever) they must go to work, to meet certain social standards, else they will be questioned.
    That's kind of discrimination too.
