I would prefer @Rihana to open new thread considering her valuable inputs to the thread . It is not gossip thread rather there were great discussions.
Been my questions exactly CIB. If every other thread is closed because there is some discussion / argument happening then I'm also thinking of feasible options to keep the thread going without closing.
@Anusha2917, Only way such general discussion thread could be kept healthy is to have the OP to request ILites to remain respectful to each other. OPs of such threads may have to take ownership to keep that thread alive and get involved to resolve conflicts, when needed. If OP takes initiative to open a thread to have general discussion, it is also his/her responsibility to keep it a healthy discussion.
Newcomers ko bhi chance dijiye ( consider newcomers too). Lata Mangeshkar sang for many decades. So did P Susheela, S Janaki. But Them stopping helped many young singers to flourish. Music didn’t stop.
Viswa Sir, OP can request for a healthy discussion. Not sure if he/she can take responsibility/ownership completely for it. But nevertheless I don't see closing the thread as an option. If not that thread the discussion on same / different topic will start elsewhere. How is that controlled?
Agree. Many do not have time to monitor their threads on daily basis. They can request others to exercise restraint but it is not in their control if discussion veers towards acrimony.
My apologies Anusha, I am one of the guilty party that spilt chai and tea shop was closed Hope your vacay was good ! Good to see you back !
@Anusha2917, I realize it is hard to take responsibility or ownership for what someone was going to say. What I meant was for the OP who takes initiative to start a topic for such general discussion to monitor to keep it alive and if required, tell very politely not to be bitter to each other. Regarding closing of thread, when it gets too toxic, what other option moderators would have? Leaving it as is will only result in continued dialogue that is unhealthy and borderline verbal abuse. The moderators can only hope for the ILites to be more respectful to each other at least on a new thread.
