    They have started cleaning up the statue of Gandiji. It must be like cleaning the Aegean Stable considering that the statue is covered with bird-droppings of a whole year. The statue is slowly coming back to life and a huge wooden ladder that measures up to the chest of the statue is erected to enable the VIPs to climb and garland the statue without difficulty. Menials will be busy pandering to the needs of the VIPs. For them, these VIPs mean a lot more than the old man in his giant stride. The efflux of time will eventually wash away everything including all memories of hallowed men who once rode the country like Colossus. October does make me pensive.

    As I move over to the market place, I see a lot of jolly mood. People shopping mindlessly for the festive season make me smile. Festivals are a Divine Thanks Giving Day indeed!

    And so, it is a fresh month. Time for fresh nominations! I felt elated by 18 of them in September. Will there be an encore?

    The nominations for October are welcome now. Scout around for worthy threads and flood us with your nominations!

    I nominate the post by @Rihana about watching home movies. Why watch at home, and who ought to stay quiet. The chill part (of Netflix and Chill) that may (or may not>?) come after the movie might as well depend on following that advisory and watching without annoying the company.

    @iyerviji @Thyagarajan
    My dear Viji
    Thanks a lot for opening the account with your nomination of @Anusha2917 's
    Navrathri 2019 Thank you Thyagu for seconding it.
    Anusha is as creative in putting up her Kolu as she is in penning her posts. I enjoyed visiting it and in partaking of the 'sundals' with 'payasam'
    This post took me back by over 7 decades recalling my mother's exuberance. She would dress me up like Lord Krishna complete with a flute stuck to my waist and peacock feather adorning in my hair. How the passing off years have robbed me of all my hair!
    Must thank Anusha for taking me on a nostalgic trip!

    @Amulet
    Thanks a lot for your nomination of @Rihana 's Chatty Companion And Movie Watching At Home
    Rihana has raised an interesting question. I agree with @Tamrakshar that 'Watching movies at home and at theater are two completely different scenarios for us'
    Here is an interesting clip from Time:

    And here is Mister Bean watching a horror movie:

    The whole fun in watching a horror movie in a theater is lost when watching it at home. Watching a horror movie at home is like standing under a shower with an umbrella!

    கேட்டதும் கொடுப்பவரே கிருஷ்ணா
    கீதையின் நாயகரே கிருஷ்ணா கிருஷ்ணா... a Cine song from Tamil’s movie RAMU crossed my mind as I visualised young @Cheeniya seven decades ago donning peacock feathers in head gear and flute tucked in his trousers dhoti.
    Regards.

    BTW that song is from Shivaji starrer Deiva Magan and not Gemini starrer Ramu. Ramu has a similar song called Kannan vandhan.
