    How does he get his coffee fix ? At work ?
    A connoisseur knows that decoction does not store well. Coffee is an anti-oxidant, id est, it is anti to any oxidant it comes across -- like oxygen in the air. In the process coffee becomes oxidized and tastes bad. In these modern days of refrigeration (in a tightly closed glass bottle) one can extend the life of taste. Or it can be frozen into icy chunks and reused a day later.

    OK, this is a slightly weird question. In a South Indian restaurant (outside India), having filter coffee served like this:

    fc.jpg
    the coffee is just warm, so no need to use the bottom container to cool it. If while one is still having the coffee from the steel tumbler, holding the tumbler away from the container which is on the table, the (Chinese) waiter comes and starts to take away the bottom container, should one request him to leave it till one finishes the coffee?

    I did say it was a weird question. : ) I was thinking that a waiter would not take away just the saucer from under a cup like below, so the steel container should also not be removed? What is good for the saucer is good for the container? : )

    That container is called a "dabara" or "davara"
    Yes; it is not appropriate to take away the saucer when the customer is still holding on to the cup. Same holds for tumbler-dabara serving set.
    The saucer/dabara is also a coaster for the cup/tumbler.

    @Rihana,

    In some places, brass tumbler and davara set is used in the restaurants as shown in the picture below:

    Coffee consumption and type 2 diabetes

    Epidemiological studies suggest that drinking 3-4 cups of coffee per day is associated with an approximate 25% lower risk of developing type 2 diabetes, compared to consuming none or less than 2 cups per day1-19. Research also suggests a dose response relationship15-18.

    A retrospective study, published in 2018, considered the effect of caffeine consumption in a group of patients with diabetes (both type 1 and type 2). The results suggested that caffeine from coffee was associated with a reduced all-cause mortality in women but not in men.:frown: or :cheer:?

    Has anyone bought and tried this Sumeru decoction in a sachet ? The hype claims about 10 cups of coffee for only about 55 rupees worth of decoction (you'd get your own hot milk for a cafe latte). If you had bought this, and made coffee from it, post here and tell us how it turned out. TIA.

    With more coffee per cup than other filter coffee decoctions, the filter coffee decoction comes sans sugar, or artificial flavours and colours, in convenient one 100 ml sachets, each serving up to 10 -12 cups of rich, strong filter coffee. Priced at a mere Rs. 55/-, the filter coffee decoction is strong and rich in taste, convenient, affordable and the right brew for every season. Each secondary package consists of 12 dispensers each, with every dispenser containing 12 packs of 100ml. The shelf life of the decoction pack is 6 months, however, once opened, the coffee decoction needs to be stored in a refrigerator and consumed within 10 days for best results.

    Speaking on the launch of their latest product, Mithun Appaiah, CEO, Innovative Foods Limited, said, “Considering the fact that Indians are coffee lovers, getting good quality coffee is not easy. Moreover, brewing the rich and ‘just right’ South Indian cup of coffee is a time-consuming process. However, we at Sumeru can help our consumers overcome the time and convenience barrier and bring them that perfect cup of coffee in no time.
