    Completely agree!
And also agree, that , 90 percent or more times it's the woman who is the victim. There are so many who suffer in silence all throughout their lives without seeking any recourse.
    BUT
Then given the statistics, there are some women who tend to falsify these narratives or maybe ,to be a lil more empathetic to them, have false notions about their own victimisation . These then cause a lot of heartburn to them selves and others , by claiming their 'rights' when trampling over others and expecting the rest to only be obligated to her by virtue of 'she' being 'her'.
That's where both sides of the coin should come into play ! But then the world was never fair, it wasn't ever meant to be , i guess ;)

I like it. These hyperbolic victims contribute very positively to society by inculcating the appropriate levels of trepidation in the minds of all who wish to enter (the holy bond of?) matrimony with an underhanded conspiracy to subjugate the woman they plan to enslave and and make her serve out a life sentence being maid, sex-slave, and caretaker for a man and all his relatives. phew.... that run-on sentence ran longer than I could hold my breath. :tonguewink:

    totally totally agree
So this is like what happens in any other aspect of life!
The lessons always lie elsewhere, than where the motivation for a law/response is inspired from ;)

While this is true, the New member is not challenging power of any kind. She has totally succumbed to traditional societal expectations of a woman.
I think this is most unfortunate. A capable, educated, independent woman still considers
marriage ( by 30 !) a measure of her success in life.

Similar kind of incident happened in USA.
I know a Indian family here .the wife took lot of emotional abuse but now as the kids grown up she wanted to separate and get a job.
He married again at 58 .got one wife from India.maybe poor family but half is age .Cooks and cleans for him
The ex got a job somewhere and got some alimony I think. She cant get a do over again in life and he is marrying and get a renewal in life again.

    I
I'm the new member. I don't consider it a measure of success, but I also want to get married and have kids. It's a normal feeling. Education and finnacial independence has nothing to do with it.

Recently Ive been looking at some old cooking videos of Lekshmi Nair. She was a Kairali-TV cuisine show host - she travelled to various parts of India and featured the special foods of the location for the Malayalee viewers at home.

In this cooking show about making Masala Dosa (from store-bought dosa batter), she showed off her Kochin Apartment. Wow... I was amazed at the kitchen gas-range, and especially the range-hood above the gas burners. @Rihana might ask about the filter in that range-hood, and whether or not it needs to be cleaned now and then.

That range hood looked like it could be out of Star Trek... You take a look:

The moment you mentioned her, I presumed there might be a comparison to Nigella Lawson; (the additional kerb weight is from coconut oil?)

When doing maintenance work on the concrete roof (for rain water seepage), I asked the engineer how long the solution will work. He said 3 years. I prodded further, ''If i make a new roof with this solution, how long will it be leak proof''. He said 5 years.

Eventually they all leak and we(men) all go bald.

She can also, if she wants to marry. But males get younger ones and women get older ones most of the time. Sad reality.

Three of my male acquaintances remarried within 1-3 years of their wife's death. But two of my friends who lost their husband in their late 30's or early 40's, is wasting their life for kids (they appear ok from out side). Recently I met one of my colleague. Ten years back he was sad due to his wifes health(cancer) and she died. Last month I met him, he was super happy and showed me pictures of his new wife(much younger than him) and three kids!!..YES. Most of the people in India cannot accept women's remarriage in their 40's or later, but men don't face that issue. Strange. I think it should change.
