Many know here that I am very fond of writing snippets. Now @Amulet has raised some questions. Let me answer her

How good I have been with my children and in laws

Children are my asset and I love children. I had the opportunity to conceive only at the age of 33. Yrs. Some said I might not have children because I am thin. But not one but I have 3 children having a difference of 1 yr nine months. I took lot of effort to bring them up and being a working women it was not so easy. Till they were in primary I used to take up their lessons. My son was smart himself and studied independently. He had good grasping power. Till primary he used to score more than eighty. In Xth also he scored 81 percent and I told him to take CA. He had the opportunity to learn ERP when he did industrial training in our office. Today he is a Director of a Company and being CA and ERP is helping him a lot.

My two daughters needed my help. As I was workingn I could not teach them cooking, by the time I retired they were married. They learnt cooking and have tried making cheedai also. My younger daughter's mil taught her everything more than me . Any queries they ask me. They did graduation and got a good job. Now my elder daughter is a homemaker, younger one still working. They are attached to me and everyday keep in touch.

I had been a good Dil . My mil was there only for two years. But I had taken care of my eldest brother in law in his last days who was unmarried. One of my sis in law also stayed with us for sometime. She was with me and took good care of me when I had hip bone fracture.

In my in law's house everyone including men were expert in cooking. They were taught by their mother.Any festival everyone used to be in the kitchen. Now also during my parents in law's death anniversary my brother in law only cooks and his Dil who is a maharashtrian has also learnt South Indian cooking. In the beginning I learnt cooking from my husband. Of late I take the help of Google to make the different varieties.

To my knowledge I am liked by all. My husband's family is a big one.He has eight sister's and two brothers. Now 3 sisters are alive. My husband has many nieces and nephews and all are fond of me.

Yes...indeed. If there is ever a mention of a "Few Snippeteers" at IL, you'd be a topper.
And the Mrs. Director, your daughter-in-law ? Stay at home or employed outside also ?

All stay-at-home-spouses do ERP (enterprise resource planning): timely, and appropriate levels of happiness (in its various forms) being the deliverables.

    Dear Viji,
It was a brief autobiography .It is a nice experience to have so many sisters- in- law and brothers -in-law and win over them by sheer affection. Our children may never have such a vast net of close relatives and cousins, as single child norm has already come to vogue.

On reading the snippet I am reminded of an instance that happened just 20 years back. There was a big landlord in Kulittalai, a village in Trichy District. He had four sons.A very rich family with a vast house connecting two streets, front and back. Two sons were attending to farming, and doing fertlilizer business. One was attending to the management of a big Wedding hall, they owned.Three brothers got married to girls from equally rich zameendar families, just with one sibling. The first Daughter-in-law was a matriculate, and the next two were graduates but home makers. They were all living in the same big house and there was no dearth of privacy since there were six large rooms with cots etc.

The youngest son was an M.Phil in Maths and was a maths lecturer in a local college. When he attained marriable age, he conveyed his desire of getting a girl from a poor family with five or six daughters alone. He wished that his would be wife ,having been brought up with so many sisters should have an attitude of sharing.

His desire to have life partner from a big family of daughters with limited financial resources got fulfilled. The girl was fair and beautiful, graduated from a local college..

But trouble started the very next month. She had no attitude of sharing anything with others. The elder daughters-in-law shared the kitchen duties, cleaning of pooja room ,pooja vessels etc, all with a smile, chit chatted and there was cheer and laughter.Buth the new vadhu, had a gloomy face and started grumbling whenever she was asked to do anything. The third month she started talking about the family jewels silver vessels and diamond studded chains and how much her share would be.She started talking about partition etc.

The very purpose of marrying a girl from a large family was totally lost. The entire peaceful atmosphere was totally lost. In a very short period he decided to leave the village home and started living in a small tenement in the town. visits to parents became a thing of rarity.

Attitude differs from person to person. It is wrong to presume taht girls from large families will have generous attitude.Having been born brought up in a big family of hand to mouth living, the new vadhu had developed a sense of total independence, and Darwins 'struggle for existence' had taught her to think of 'survival of the fittest' and was always bent on getting the maximum share and was totally self centred.

Poverty may not teach lessons always. This new vadhu captured a lesson as how not to be , and grab at the appropriate time.
" A totally wrong assessment", the elderly mami, the head of the family used to lament very often.

:hello:It turned out wheels in wheels. I agree with the conclusion.
    2. Generosity, sharing attitude, philanthropy all this how it is generated in a person? Is it by sheer observation or out of affluence acquired or hereditary . Would it change midway? I wonder.
    3. I saw the other day an emaciated boy lying on floor in tattered clothes. A girl in scooter arrived by his side and left a small packet and a mini bottle of water by his side.
    3. Opening the packet of idli pongal, the scooter girl awakened the boy to have the food and left the scene. I stood waiting by. The packet remain untouched. After a while, a stray dog came by. The boys eye opened and brightened when the dog with its front legs tapped on his chest. He offeted idli to the dog. Pongal remain untouched.
    I was left in tears.
    Thanks and regards.
