No, it measures the number of survivors 5 years after initial cancer treatment.

    Hi all

Thanks again. Though I am at work today, my mind revolves around cancer and the treatment process only.

Is there anyone from this group who had experience ALL or whose children or any near/dear one went through this before.

Kindly come here and enlighten me with your personal experience as to how to go about. what hope we could have, and what to prepare.

I am being very positive. But off late, my bro and SIL chose to be open and not to get repeatedly disappointed with each and every results that they receive. They say, it breaks them in to pieces, so staying hopeless is better.

I just want to hear first hand/second hand experience.... and if possible survivor stories.

Join a patient support group for childhood ALL. That is the recommendation I received from a cancer survivor. You will hear about the latest research, treatments and clinical trials as well as advice on what to expect, what to ask the doctors and so on.

    SGBV,

    Sorry to hear the news!
2 of my cousins went through ALL.
One cousin detected when she was 15 yrs and lost her at 18 yrs
Second cousin, detected at 10 yrs of age and recently lost him at 17 yrs of age.

I dont have detailed info on what tests were done and the medication followed. But tried our level best for the second cousin, but he had relapse after bone marrow.

All i can say is, it is a long and stressful journey with lots of advices pouring in. Strong mental state is the only cure or alteast to lengthen the life.

@SGBV stay strong and try to be strong in front of your brother and his family.
I think it would be a good idea to join a parents support group for ALL online or if possible to a group in your country. you will meet ppl who have gone through the treatment process and know what is to be expected from the parents point of view.

It is always hard to see loved one suffer, but when a child is suffering and there is very little in your control, it is heartbreaking. we can do nothing but pray and be there.

@SGBV Stay strong and support them.Even if its cancer,we have different stages in this.Stage 1 -5..Stage 1 and. 2 is easily curable..Even if its stage 3 -5, we have chemotherapy and other treatments..only thing is we should be very strong enough to face this..its a bad time..just believe in God..He can do all miracles. I have seen a baby boy(4 years) who had Multiple Myeloma(blood cancer-stage 3),he was given chemotherapy sessions for 6 months and he recovered from it.He has now rejoined his school and is normal.

So Please please be strong and pray to god.Ask the parents to be very strong.
Please chant this mantra given by Mahaperiyava to cure cancer

    Asmin Paraathman Nanu Paadmakalpe
    Thvamithamutthaapitha Padmayonihi I
    Anantha Bhoomaa Mama Roga Raashim,
    Nirundhi Vaathaalaya Vaasa Vishno. II

I had 2 cancer patients in my family and this slogam worked.Believe God.My prayers will always be there for the child.

    My bad.. Are they siblings?
Is it to do with genetics?
    So many questions.

My brother is ready to invest a lot of money to ensure his DD is sound and safe. Even if that means a long and painful journey, it is OK if she is safe and alive at the end of the day.
It is a huge financial stress and burden for them. Specially at this stage when he had to wind up all his private practice and business in order to be with the child for treatment.

The Drs are confident that this is curable for 90% and looks like the kid is on the safe side for various positive reasons. That's a great relief for now.
However, they are being honest, and so many internet news also back with what the Drs are actually conveying here. I mean, they stress on this 5 yr survival rate and possibility of relapse and so on.

This is exactly what puts me off. Though I am yet to talk these with my bro or family.

Isn't it any clearance whether the child will be cancer free after the treatments?

It is good that her doctors are being realistic. The odds are excellent for remission but everyone responds differently to treatment. It would be irresponsible of medical professionals to promise a complete cure.

    Thanks everyone.
The chemo is scheduled to be done on Sunday. Hope the kid gets all the strength to face it. And hope the parents get enough power to support the suffering child at this crucial moment.

We are here to support them by looking after their other kid (3 yrs old), and staying at the hospital whenever one parent needs a break.
We also joined a few prayer groups and healing services and religiously following those on behalf of the family.

This is the time everyone at our family and extended family come forward to help us, cry with us, and give us loads of positivism and prayers as needed. Even those who had estranged from us in the past have come back, and united.

Hope this tragedy will pass, and all the goods will return to us.

Please continue to pray for my niece, and her family
