Yes, a majority of people in Kashmir are Muslims, but they do not all separate Pak. The ones who do are a bunch of separatists who have made themselves the self-appointed voice of the Kashmiris. Their leaders are the ones who foment trouble in the state. If one were to consider the Ladakhis, the people of Jammu, the ordinary Muslim in Kashmir (which is far bigger than Srinagar and the 5 districts where there is constant trouble), am sure most of them are happy being with India.

Viswa, when the then king of Kashmir signed an agreement acceding to India, it automatically became a part of India. Pak snatched a huge chunk of the land. That is the disputed territory. What is acceded to India is not subject to any dispute. And as such, what the govt has been done can be questioned by Indians or Kashmiris, but certainly not by Pakistan. India has not touched POK. Besides POK did not have any agreement whereby they acceded to Pakistan. So how has India breached the Simla agreement?

In this context, I am a bit unclear about the contention that India has de facto converted the LOC to the International border. Could someone please explain this to me?

Periamma, Karnataka has always been a Congress bastion. Last time it was really a sign of change that the BJP won, even if with a slim majority. The very fact that Congress lost was a message - loud and clear. The JDU and Congress were parties who could not stand each other but made this unholy coalition only to seize power. After that, to add insult to injury, the JDU with a tiny number of seats grabbed the chief ministerial seat. I agree, all this horse-trading is disgusting and even if BJP now has the numbers, one cannot depend on it to last long because people who hop from one party to another only for political and financial gains do not have any lasting principles. Politics and politicians in Karnataka have anyway been disgusting since a long time now. The last good CM I remember is S.N. Krishna.

However, the next state elections will tell us the real state of affairs. I expect the outcome to be better defined in favour of one party or the other.

you are right. previous government did nothing. most governments in India, do nothing for the good of the ppl. they line their pockets.. hold property with every binami possible and then... when they are ready to leave the world, ensure that their next few generations can loot from the ppl as well.... think karunanidhi... lallu Prasad... NTR... YSR...

We, as Indians, need to start holding our elected leaders accountable. we cannot vote for someone because he was our fav. movie hero, belongs to our caste, sub-caste, acted as a good man in movies... etc.

BJP tried to engineer defections from PDP When Karnataka style game didn't work there, it revoked the two articles and put Kashmir under its direct grip from New Delhi. It is playing partisan politics under the cover of solving Kashmir problem.

From the huge haul of arms and ammunitions that were seized in the region from the masjids, it is clear that more than a place of worship , they were used as dens for all criminal activities and plans. It is really time for a show down instead of the slow massacre that has been going on over the years!

Elementary Satchi It has become a fait accompli that POK has become part of Pak. The only way we can try to get it back is by war. Which I don't think either side will start. So LOC fr all practical purposes is the international border.
