The suicide bomber involved in the Pulwama attack was a young Kashmiri boy. How to de-radicalize such Kashmiri youths?

Deliver them legitimate living measures, decent living standards, and sense of social security. Basically, keep their life busy and useful that they do not get to be brainwashed to become Jihadis instead.

    How to make this happen?

Permitting free movement & investments into J&K and subsequently guaranteeing healthy advancements within the locale as long term impacts. Over the years, if the situation has improved as expected the intimidating presence of our Armed force which by unpopular opinions the people of Kashmir feel uneasy and insecure around can be withdrawn/minimized as well. Long road ahead indeed with demanding challenges (and criticisms equally) but all things considered a good start towards a permanent solution IMHO. Removal of the articles is necessary and critical in the positive interests of Kashmiris as well as India as a nation.

Have you really talked to any kasmiri pandit who fled that place?

Do you really believe the terrorists treated the muslims and pandits the same way ?

It s extremely insensitive to suggest that pandit fled because of fear and the muslims stayed back and dealt with what came.

There was a time when pandits were systematically terrorized to force them to flee.

The girls of pandits were picked up,kidnapped and kept as sex slaves for terrorists and sent back home when they were 7-8 months pregnant.
Not one or two...but thousands of girls and women had to go through this nightmare.

When this happens systematically and the neighboring muslims just watch or looked the other way,the police appear useless, what option do the people have but take their womena children and flee.

I have a pandit woman in my family who still shivers at what she had to go through when she was kidnapped by terrorists and sent back heavily pregnant. Her son is in an orphanage in kashmir and she has not been able to see his face because it brings back her nightmare .Have some empathy for such people.

    Hindus are ravaged too.
    Hindus feel pain too.
Don't downplay the sickness that happened to kashmiri pandits because it means people have to accept that minorities are also violent aggressors.

When the insurgency was at its peak...very few muslims were targetted .

Once the hindus and sikhs were forced to flee...then muslims who did not help ,agree with them or who were suspected of being informers were killed.
Later on they targetted muslims girls too who were forcibly married of to terrorists because when they get used to sexually ravaging girls,it becomes a habit.

Terrorists have not targetted muslims in kashmir as a community like they targeted the hindus.
Muslims got killed because they either came in the way of terrorists or they got caught in cross fire.

I am not responding to rest of the post because I can't get past this.
It is like accepting the horrifying treatment meted to kashmiri pandits will dilute some peoples agenda.

Human tragedy beyond belief. My heart shudders at the thought of that child in an orphanage for no fault of his.

The Special status is not given with the consent of the Kashmiri residence and it was given to them for political reasons after a difficult war was faught between India and Pakistan. If that was not given, Kashmir would have been awarded to Pakistan as a majority Muslim region. Since 1947, it is a disputed territory and unresolved. The rest of India is undisputed. That is the real history.

Radical Islamic Terrorism to liberate Kashmir is only one of the issues. The other problem is heavy militarization of the territory resulting in excessive force by military over the innocent civilians. There is considerable hate against India in this territory as much as the government wants to make it a normal state. Settlement into the disputed territory is just like what Israel does to Palestinians. The first step is to make the Islamic population living in Kashmir wanting to be with India. This type of brutal decision and force isn't going to win the hearts of the people in this territory.

The power to make Jammu & Kashmir a normal state and remove article 370 vests with the State Legislature. The Government of India made the decision to remove article 370 since there is no elected Government in Jammu & Kashmir. Most leaders in Jammu & Kashmir consider this unconstitutional and bringing the military to enforce this removal of article 370 makes it more complicated. This move by the Government of India might be considered unconstitutional by the Supreme Court.

Probably not. In 1952, a presidential order was passed in J&K without the consent of State Assembly because there was no valid assembly then. Using the reference of 1952, power of the Constituent Assembly had been transferred to the State Assembly and the power of State Assembly was already with Governor since 2018 (using the power of the President under Article 356). J&K Reservation (Amendment) Bill was passed in 2019 using this power and Supreme Court of India did not object the bill thus validating the powers of the Governor. Revoking the article through President isn't unconstitutional after all.

I am yet to understand the full details of the bill and article 370. As far as I can understand the article was made ineffective or inoperative by making changes. It’s not revoked. It’s been made inoperative as per the links below. Pardon my ignorance if I am wrong in my understanding.

Isn't it an indirect way of invalidating the original power vested with the state? Even Article 356 can be used only in limited circumstances which was misused many times in the past. A Supreme Court intervention would happen only if someone contest the decision of the Government of India. This time, the leaders of J & K might contest it in the Supreme Court.

Let us forget J & K. Can Government of India, for example, enforce Article 356, say in Karnataka and then, make sweeping decisions that a legally constituted assembly can take? Of course, not. Governor's rule is administrative in nature until the Election Commission decides to organize a duly elected members of the assembly.
