    OP,

I am a working woman, but I am someone who has IMMENSE respect for homemakers . I completely believe it is the most THANKLESS and UNDERPAID This is my favorite response when someone disrespects a homemaker.

    1) Cook - atleast Rs.8000-10000 a month in India- Sometimes unreliable. Lots of drama. Needs to supervised most of the time.
    2) Dhobi/Laundry - atleast Rs 5000 a month
    3) Day Care - Atleast Rs.10000 for 9AM to 6PM for ONE Child in India.
    4) Tutor who takes care of kids homework - atleast Rs. 5000 a month
    5) Driver/chaffeur/Uber - Atleast Rs.200 per trip

Now these are just a very FEW of the tasks a homemaker takes care of. That itself is worth a salary of 50k-60k a month. Add to this caretaker while anyone in the family is sick, caretaker of parents etc. This is amount of MINIMUM money a homemaker saves. I had a huge argument one day with my male colleague who called his wife a "cost center" who doesnt give any revenue, only spending . I made him sit and put all this in an excel (he had two kids). And I could see it was an eye opener for him. I told him to put in the excel that unlike other jobs the "cost center" doesn't get vacations or paid time off or coffee breaks or happy hours and team building activities and most importantly cannot quit if she doesnt want to do the job anymore.

    That is so true!
I am a working mom and My mom also worked throughout my childhood. But I have seen my grand mom who was a home maker, other words who didnt have "a job". But I do not think anyone can ever match the work that stay home moms do.

You're right..I have accepted my situation...trying my best not to compare with others as other side of the grass is always greener..if only my husband appreciates me I'll feel happier.

Good calculation...maybe I need to prepare a similar spreadsheet for my hubby so he understands my value and is a little more patient and tolerant towards any issues I may face.
