I confess I've accumulated many sarees over the last many years since marriage..
I got many sarees as gifts for auspicious occasions, from relatives, from both my sides family etc as its a custom to gift clothing to married ladies..
Few sarees I gifted to others, few simple ones I gave to my domestic helps during festival as they expect some gifts..
I got many saree blouses stitched as I like sarees ( though I'm not very comfy wearing saree for long hours)..
But my question is how to utilise sarees so that they don't just lie in the cup board?
I wear grand sarees for weddings, receptions, family functions etc...
Also during festival time if I have to collect Tamboolam from other relatives or neighbourhood ladies homes I'll wear sarees..sometimes during Poojas or temple visit to any big temple.
But what do I do the rest of the year when there are no festivals or functions?
I'm a home maker right now...but when I approached a couple of companies looking for job , internships etc , I saw ladies in 20s and 30s even 40s age group wearing kurtas, palazzo, western formats, western casuals, salwar , churidars set , ethnic wears jeans, t shirt etc..
Since most office going ladies do not prefer wearing saree, want to know if it's possible for ladies in 20s n 30s to wear saree occasionally to work place and not look out of place or like an "auntie" among younger and same age female colleagues? Or is it better to wear saree only during saree day and ethnics day celebrations in office and blend in with what others wear?
Actually I've not worked since many years and with career gap I also don't have much idea about dress codes in private companies..
How to make best use of simple and fancy type sarees so they don't just lie in cup board and go waste?
I'm settled in India..I'm not as young as a college fresher neither am I middle aged..so my age is some where in between.:) ..would appreciate if saree lovers like me share their inputs..

You will a dozen ideas online to utilize them. Like converting them to kurtis n lehengas n anarkali dresses. The list is endless. Personally I love sarees too and what has age got to do with sarees. Just dress up wear and flaunt them !

    +1

I have also seen friends convert them into lovely drapes for their open shelves / attics and in some cases curtains for windows too. If you eventually decide to give them away, you could consider donating to any Old Age home near your house. A friend's father passed away recently and they donated all his clothes to an Old Age Home. The joy of those elderly people in receiving those clothes and even old spectacles was something you will have to see for yourself to believe. Their blessings will be worth more than that and in any case you will get it back multi-fold in some other way.

Want to know how often do women working in private companies wear saree to office on a regular working day?how about those working in MNC?
Does it look very out of place if a woman wears saree now and then amongst other fashionable ladies?
I remember one of my married colleague in my previous workplace in her mid twenties..she was so slim and looked much younger than her age..she would wear sarees to office at least one or two days a week..not grand ones or very fancy ones, but simple and elegant sarees..she looked so good.
Not aware of current trends of office wear as I have big career gap.

Stand out in the crowd wearing Sarees to workplace everyday. :)
While I don't wear Saree daily I have seen and admire this lady at my workplace who's in Saree Every day. I am in an MNC .
She's at a higher post but definitely not very old. Everyone is on awe of her style. Mostly they are cotton Sarees . But very contemporary style . Excellent blouse designs - which are decent for a workplace.
You should try something like this . You can go wearing a Saree Every single day to work.
It wouldn't be odd at all.

You can wear your cotton sarees to office with smart modern blouses. These days you can wear anything with linen and simple cotton sarees. Tight T shirts, tops etc.

You can turn your printed synthetic sarees into palaazos and lehengas and wear them with long straight kurtas.

You can wear the silk sarees like lehengas without cutting them .....just for a change.Check out videos.
Mix and match blouses. Sometimes wearing the saree with the same blouse that comes with the saree becomes boring .

You can wear sarees with shrug
This look can be worn in office too.

Some may be outlandish but one can change them to ones liking and comfort.
