    Agreed.

Also making someone's personal problem public under asking for a friend without their consent is a complete breach of trust. If someone is willing, help them by giving appropriate forum details.

Why leave all the fun to sexist men who assume that a woman can't handle the maths? Jeez! Although it may keep her up at night occasionally, modeling is perfectly safe!!! Tell your friend that if she's scared, she can start with simple linear models and slowly work her way up to non-linear, multivariate, stochastic, and other more complex models. It's not like she's expected to wake up with a solution for P vs. NP right on day one!!

What is wrong if someone does not want to acknowledge on this public forum that they are the ones with the problem ? So what if it is a “friend” or a “cousin” that needs help ? I fail to understand why it is a big deal.

Sometimes telling a friend about this forum can mean being one's own foe. Friendship, like charity, begins at home sweet home.

Sorry for the tangent to thread, perhaps Manisha could move this to Rel banter thread, but for now , answering here:
it is already anonymous, so you can say its your issue, rather than FoA (friend of anonymous which is equal to anonymous anyway)! Among the billions and billions of Indians, anyway if you say “me” its already anonymous among billions, so friend of me doesn’t add much

Well-asked. If someone wants to post a problem as a "friend's problem" what is the problem?

There were times I wanted to post about a problem and assign it to a 'friend' but desisted. I consider such desisting by me to be IL's loss.

"Friend of me" helps in keeping the problem separate from other things one has posted here. It helps to achieve anonymity in an anonymous forum which is different from anonymity among billions.
