:hello:I assume the query is addressed to all in IL’ites.
    2. There are menfolk still in service or retired spend quite a time in kitchen but they are in IL undecided or not want to ( fearing repercussions) to answer OP’s inquisitiveness.
    3. At times, presence of DH could cause spouse to increase or decrease quantum of time spent in the kitchen, depending on his enthu age etc. ; DH presence as a catalyst too can make or mar the quality and quantity of time spent in the kitchen.
    4. Multi tasking left to hubbies can save or mar spouse time in the kitchen. From individual to individual , couple to couple, joint family or cellular, number of kids and their age and their spacing might have a telling effect on time spent in kitchen. Status of lady like SAHM May increase kitchen because more expectations from others.
    5. Seniors like me sometime spend as much time as spouse spends in kitchen.
    6. Running water availability or the lack of it determines one’s kitchen time. If domestic help remain absent, it can increase kitchen time of spouse and house husbands. Power shedding or lack of power used to increase kitchen time. Orthodoxy May also add to kitchen time. Unannounced guests arrival might add to time.
    7. I am sure op would agree with this holistic comments originating with INDIA flavour.
    THANKS AND REGARDS.
GOD IS TASTE & taste IS GOD & if turns out bland it is OMG.

    SAHM/WFH.
Mostly cook from scratch. Often, Ginger garlic paste is the only pre-made fridge ingredient... that too by self... Microwave n pressure cooker are my kitchen buddies - I use them to the max.
    Family of 2+1

    Cooking usually takes ~3 hours:
Upto 40 min for breakfast (and clear up)
1-1.5 hours for lunch (rice + gravy + veggie)
    40 min for dinner

Oh, and Coffee, snacks/fruits for kid etc: ~40 min (total for the day)

Dishes: dishwasher loading/unloading, handwashing 45min-1 hour

This does not include any cleaning tasks : countertop/sink wiping/sweeping etc.

    Breakfast - 40 min, if idli/dosa - 30 min.
Lunch - rice, veggie fry/kootu and sambar or any gravy - 2 hrs.
Dinner - 1 hr - roti and a veggie dish
Dishes - 45 min. Mostly I handwash. Only weekend use dishwasher.
Cleaning - 20 min. I clean then and there. After dinner I clean counter and stove range.

    & @Vedhavalli
Your kitchen could be sparkling all the time as you remove the clutter then & there instead of doing all of it in one go.
    God bless.

That means working spouse would be more efficient than SAHM.
    GOD BLESS.

2 to 2.5 hours for cooking alone on most weekdays. Out of this 1 hour for breakfast plus part lunch and 1 to 1.5 hours for dinner plus part-lunch. Partner does most clean up. And this amount of time is when I get some of my veggies precut at the grocery store!

Some prep work happens over the weekend but not much since I try to allocate as much free time over weekend for kid-time.

Thank you very much for asking this question @sumalynux I loved reading everyone's answers. Looks like I can get much more efficient about my hours spent in the kitchen.

We are a family of 2. I am a Homemaker. I spend 1 hour for breakfast, 1.5 hours for lunch. Dinner is mostly leftovers. At night I clean up kitchen in 15-20 mins. Apart from night clean up I wash the vessels then and there after cooking each meal, which may be 10 mins morning and afternoon each. So total 3.5 hours in the kitchen.
