    Satchi, I understand judges do their best. This should be hard on you as well. If this FP contest or winning can be resolved amicably it will be nice that we don’t lose valuable members or their contributions anymore. Hope there is some other form of recognition or acknowledgement.

    Do we really have a set of rules about Finest Post selection or is it a guideline? Is it transparent to all the members? Can someone guide me to such a list?

    Two examples given:

    One is about @kkrish - It appears to be a genuine error by Satchi which she perhaps acknowledged to the person who pointed it out.

    Another is about@Thyagarajan - winning it three times - There I see a lot of gap between each time he won the FP. I don't see what is the problem with it.

    I was nominated 12 times in the last 17 months, just like another member who was nominated 36 times in the last 17 months. I don't see any discrimination because my threads were not selected. I really enjoyed reading all of the winners' posts. I don't like to blame Satchi as biased and at best, I can question her judgment.

    How do we compare the writing of each writer? Is it content? Is it writing style? Is it newcomer or stalwart writer? Is it what resonates well with most ILites? Is it how many times a thread is nominated?

    Can anyone write a set of rules or the best criteria that would satisfy every single ILite here?

    Speaking of violation of rules, Forum Etiquette clearly states that no Good Bye posts should be made in IL. I remember this was posted personally by the founder. How many members have violated these rules in the past week? Questioning the rules is easy. Writing and following them are hard.

    Mistt, can't this be resolved without goodbye's? LIke the title of a 1985 Smita Patil movie, Akhir Kyon? But Why bring in good-bye's? And if you insist and cannot be convinced otherwise, can I have first dibs on the snapshots thread? : ) sorry I am shameless that way.. when a neighbor or friend is moving away, I ask if I can help, and casually drop a hint that I will be happy to take any plants they need to give away. Or rather, used to be like this some years ago. j/k... trying to bring a little awkward lightness into a thread that in necessary but I am sure is painful for all to read.

    @Rihana,

    Because you disappear from IL from time to time, your name is withheld until you show up and ask why your name is missing in FP section.:beer-toast1:

    @Rihana

    "Avanavanukku Avan Avan Kavalai" means, "Each person is worried about his own worries/problems."

    Rihana - you are awesome! :) Something similar happens at our workplace often: In a closely-knit, well-functioning team, some team member suddenly announces in weekly team meeting they they have given in their notice. No one can believe it - everyone is upset - that team member gave no one any clue in all those heartfelt conversations at lunch gatherings. How dare he/she leave the ship? Then when walking out of team room - there will be dibs on leaving team member's monitor, ergonomic keyboard, chair etc. And then everyone is laughing.

    I did not get to read the exchanges between mods, admin and member in full or part. All I know is hearsay in posts and bits and pieces in many threads.

    If the FP rules were brought up and how come back-to-back winner was same once was asked, that is fine and perhaps even shows that somebody cares enough. If in any way a bias or partiality on the part of Satchi, Cheeniya was implied that is extremely unfortunate. "Excuse me, maybe the guidelines are not being uniformly followed?" is different from "xyz is biased, showing partiality..."

    The statistics cannot be disputed after such a list is compiled and perused. But to my reading of the list and to the level that I follow FP thing, Thyagu got the award with a gap of 7-8 months each time. Viswa's post and another post or two had some explanation of this. kkrish getting the award back to back was obviously a mistake. A mistake worth overlooking or bringing up lightly.

    Satchi and Cheeniya work hard in the FP section, Snippets section and overall in IL. Having to read each nominated post, no matter the topic, and then to respond is not an easy task. Having to come up with a creative announcement post for each month's FP thread and the FP winners thread is also a lot of work. The FP threads get created, locked and winners announced, and index updated, all in a timely manner. I gather they also respond to snippet threads as regularly as they can. In addition to this, they continue to participate with their snippets and other contributions.

    If Satchi, Cheeniya were in any way accused of being biased or partial, I am saddened to have seen this day in IL. As the old lady would say in a Hindi movie, 'why didn't my eyes close forever before this day.."

    Also, sharing the contentious offline conversation with others or in threads without permission from Satchi, Jey, Cheeniya is not IPL.

    That being said, I admire Geeta's conviction and courage to bring up the matter when she likely knew it might not end well and that such bringing up can be viewed in a manner not intended by her.
