Ahem.... I happened to read your longer essay, under the exact same thread-title. And then mulled over why those people who'd coined all those sayings quoted in that, felt that way. They must've thought that turn of phrase was cool, and passed it on, and then a few others must've thought the same as well.

The longer article is the correct one as the shorter version was the result of copying problem from word.Experience gets converted into thoughts and turned into words.Some times what we say in one paragraph is expressed more effectively in one sentence.Twelve years in a training circuit have helped me in understanding and appreciating such beautiful expressions.

when the gps-girl in the car says "you have reached your destination", well... then.... you have.
One australian voice person for such a system (she recorded for Garmin model units), has now gone on to giving talks as a life-coach, teaching people how to reach their destination. Her mantra is "recalculate.... recalculate.... recalculate..."

Happens when we make a wrong turn in life.... or in a vehicle. So long as we have the gumption to continue (i.e., the proverbial gas in the tank), we can indeed continue and make a course correction.
