At the end of the day what we all wish to feel is useful and respected.

Feel very happy to know that some people wait for my wishes during birthday etc. Some people feel very happy to get my wishes.

Through Facebook we come to know our friends birthdays. Recently one friend from my old building joined Facebook. I came to know her birthday and sent her wish and phoned her. She was surprised to get my wishes and felt very happy. Yesterday I was surprised when she came to my house with cake and flowers. She said was very happy to receive my wishes.

On Saturday my elder brother who is 88 yrs old phoned me in the night. He said why no phone from you. I told him I phoned you two days back. He said you don't remember what day today. Today is my birthday.Usually you are the first to call But today did not get and thought you must be not well. I told him I forgot getting old. Hesaid I am young. I told him you are always young. He does not look his age. I told him sorry and wished him.Felt very happy to know my wish is so precious to him.

Later his daughter also phoned and asked why no call to her father. Felt very happy wishes mean so much to them

That is so nice Vijima. Always nice to know when our wishes mean something to near and dear ones. My dad used to be the first one to wish me on my birthday. I am very bad at remembering anything and even forget my own birthday, leave alone anyone else's. Often my sister calls me to wish me and I wonder what she is wishing me for. Or she calls me on their wedding anniversary and asks me if I am not going to wish her. I feel bad, but then I have to accept that that is how my brain is wired. I live in a wonderful bubble of timelessness and come out of that bubble kicking and screaming when confronted with 'real' life.

Nice write-up, Vijima. You are indeed very special.

Earlier, I took troubles to greet all but I have tapered it off now. Even on my special days I don't expect wishes from anyone except my immediate family.

Good thread. This is about not being forgetful, isn't it ?

I had watched many Sesame Street episodes with children. I remember them only when someone/something pokes me with a mnemonic. A character named "Forgetful Jones" is a cowboy. In this episode (link below) the children watching the episode would always remember before Forgetful can come to it.

iverviji's brother and niece keeping a telephone watch is a sweet thing.

    Hello Vijima.
I am new to posting on this forum, so you may be a bit surprised to read this, but i want to let you know that i am well acquainted with your simple and meaningful writings as i have been reading them for a long while.
This is a beautiful post, and you indeed are special that you remember to wish everyone you care about and spread the love.
This is a topic that is very sensitive to particular members of my extended family , but my feelings are echoed in the above lines
    and resonate with the views
but i wouldn't deny that it always feels (more than)nice to receive wishes from loved ones and those which are conveyed with the intention of demonstrating love and friendship . Those that warm up your heart are the ones which are shared without any other expectations

    :grinning: @Afresh,

I understand the sentiments expressed by you. There was a time when even I used to greet everyone in my circle without fail but....things changed for various reasons. Now I am in a happy zone with a very few outgoing and incoming wishes. Of course, general good wishes and goodwill are always doled out for no specific rhyme or reason.

The highlighted words mean a lot!:innocent:
