please suggest what to look for when buying walking shoes. Any specific brands / Stores ?

Need To be able to brisk Walk comfortably without causing any knee pain either on flat surface or elevated ( as in treadmill) or in elliptical.

Can the same shoes be worn for rough weather or regular wear ?

How often should it be replaced? Even if soles are very slightly worn out

Is knee pain leg pain an indication to change the shoes?

Do any insert like Dr.Scholls in the shoes offer more support?

    Thanks in advance

The best pair of shoes I ever got was when I went in for a fitting at a one of a kind specialty store. Was pricey but so worth it.

You have asked many good questions. Let's see what suggestions pour in.

Try to go to a running shoe store and get fitted for a shoe. They look at your gait etc and suggest brands and can give you suggestions in your price range.

    Yes.

It’s suppsoed to be every 500 miles or when wear appears. Knee pain is my indication for me to change mine. My shoes don’t last me much more than 200 miles and I use them only on my runs.

If you need additional support then you can go to a podiatrist and get fitted for custom orthotics. If you don’t have any injuries etc and only worried about knee impact, the runners and walkers these days have enough impact cushioning to keep you going without having the need for any sort of inserts.
