First time i was so deeply upset and thought of so much on LGBT in 2010. One of an American students at Rutgers university in Newjersy who jumped to his death from the George Washington bridge. His roommate ( American Indian ) used a webcam on his dorm-room computer and his hallmate's computer to view, without knowledge, This American student kissing another man. This Indian student posted in twitter and all those things upset him committed suicide. I don't know it is okay to give link here.
I really felt so so sad and who were us to Judge and harass others choices ?? I read and came to so much info on LGBT after that incident.
Everyone has right to love to their choice.

I remember that episode. I was upset to read that many members of the LGBTQ community have tried, at least once, to commit suicide! It is not easy to be different.

So inspiring. Thank you for sharing @GeetaKashyap . I just loved the quote of Ashok Row Kavi, about abnormality.. that it's just a different kind of normal.

I was also so moved about what she said about parents needing time to be accepting. I am glad she did not give up on her mom, or place unrealistic expectations on her, about how selfless she should have been as a parents and give acceptance immediately. Definitely can take a lot of life lessons from her!

    Kudos, Abhina.

Thank you, @peartree, for this wonderful feedback. What inner strength and attitude this person has! Hats off to her! We, 'the normal people', have a lot to learn from her.

Wish more people of her community would be like her! Unfortunately the way they behave and bully on the streets is no small factor which contributes to the perception of this category in general society. And then the question comes up - what came first? The chicken or the egg? Did society's treatment of them lead to their behaviour or vice versa?

Am so glad there are also such mothers who can stand by their kids, no matter what the difficulties.

This is it, Satchi. It is an act of rebellion born out of frustration and anger at the treatment the society gives them. I feel bad that even with all our awareness we are unable to look at them with respect and give them their fair share of opportunities to live a life of dignity.

It takes tremendous inner strength and love to accept and stand by their 'different' children.

Abhina Aher is so articulate and efforts by people like her, Laxmi and Ashok Rao Kavi has been of great help to the LGBTQ community.
