We are looking to move to Northern Europe. Our criteria are : Software engineering jobs Good education standard. Free education lower to higher classes for kids Free health care. Good lifestyle - high standard of living - I know its relative - but you get the point. We have no problem with taxes. Good weather - I understand its going to be cold all the time but which country has more bearable weather ? Connectivity to India. Easy going city - Safe, peaceful and preferably has a laid back style of living Indian Network - especially for wife. Availability of Indian groceries and vegetables. Vegetarian food options etc. So, from your experience, which country is better to settle in ? I was looking at Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Netherlands and Germany. How would you compare each of these countries ? Any suggestions please ?
Hi Benadryl Love your id. Why didn't I think of that. You didn't tell why you prefer northern europe. But from your needs of Indian Grocery, Indian network, Indian connectivity, good weather, good lifestyle, good education, software engineering jobs, I feel the best place will be, India. ( not sure what you mean by free health care, is it that doctors/hospitals will do everything for free? )
Why do you want to go to Europe? I did the same research a few years back. I also wanted to go and settle any other western country other than the US, but my husband is not ready to go anywhere else, so I am stuck here. If you go to Europe other than UK language will be a big issue for a few years. According to me compare to EU Australia /Canada is much better and both the countries provide self-sponsor.
He is talking about universal health care or single payer. Most of the western countries except the US provide free healthcare to everyone, but you may need to wait longer for non-emergency.
The main reason is we want to give it a go now as we will never be able to down the line. The kids are young and we are happy to explore another country. Already lived in the US and now we are in Australia. Australia isn't too bad over all but as I was saying, we want to live in Europe for a while and see how that helps us live even better and fuller lives. We can come back to Aus anyday. Therefore looking for similar benefits we get in Australia. May I ask, what is the reason your husband isn't ready to move from the US ? And why did you want to move to Europe ?
He likes the US because: He thinks it's challenging to get an IT job in EU. If you work for Indian company/consulting, it may be a different story better pay more job opportunities More job flexibility He is not ready to learn any other new language travel job opportunities If you try, you can choose a place with better weather EU I have close relatives in EU close to home compared to the US Better health care laid back culture compared to the US better gun control
