We are planning to move back to chennai in a year. Our lo is 7 and likes schooling here. Looking for inputs on which schools in chennai are suitable for kids that like the us methodology of teaching. Our lo is a little sensitive, which is why I want to start searching from now itself. Pls share your ideas..

We are open to options. Mogappair or Omr are possibilities. We are not very keen on academics oriented school. Focus on extra curricular activities and is really what we are looking at.

I have similar plans of going back to Chennai in a yr. So, did some ground work this year to get better idea... Took tour of few schools and spoke to Principal/staff of few schools... Since US vacation season is not school admission season in chennai, we were not even allowed inside many of the schools... the best we can do is to get our Qs answered from front desk and if lucky, interact with some parents during departure time and get their general feedback etc... Based on this, I liked the NPS (National Public School) a lot. They have a max of 30 kids in each class and focus more on sports for extra curricular. One of my friend's son is studying there and she is much satisfied. They have their own gated community just walk able distance.. Their restrooms are spot clean and infrastructure is decent and well maintained. They are over-priced in my opinion, like 1.5L per kid excluding transportation, books etc..However, itz my first choice .
Next is on the extreme side... - VidhyaMandir . Though the actual fee of the school might be around 60k, the area's cost of living is high, which means you rent an apartment at ~50k plus.
The school is so famous from old days still focuses on traditional values... So many sections and class strength is high...Though it might be overwhelming for kids from US to get into such a big school with so many kids per classroom , they have best teachers and focuses more on studies and traditional dance, music, art etc as extra curriculum...
Third would be BVM school...EIther the adyar branch or the OMR one. Itz similar to VidyaMandir though itz a smaller school with less sections per standard...
The others i visited are Pon Vidyashram , Modern school (nanganallur) etc...

    Hi,
We have been thinking relocating from US to Chennai and have been considering both IGSCE and CBSE schools. Which stream is the best for a smooth transition?

Considering CBSE schools near Velachery, is there anyone to share feedback as an r2i parent about Sunshine Chennai Senior Secondary School?

Any feedback about CPS Annanagar, CBSE school?

    Hi Rathi,

IGCSE would be a better option I guess. You did not mention for which class are you looking. My kids are studying in The sunsmart foundation international school in anna nagar. I am very satisfied with their approach and the student teacher ratio is 10:1. You can check with them if you want to

I actually put my kid first in CPS global anna nagar. But their fees is way too high, and it just keep rocketing. Plus , their higher classes is in Thirumazahisai. I cant travel that far. Hope that helps

I think iGCSE would be a close match for a better transition. Check out APL Global
