    SPOILED BY SPELLCHECK

Believe it or not, the facility of spell-check on computers is spoiling me. Earlier whenever I had a doubt I would check the dictionary and correct it. It would register for a long time or may be forever. Now I do not have to remember spelling of even simple words. In fact I have started forgetting the spellings I had learnt and practiced over the years. I understand there will be a time when children will not be taught to write but to type. They will be made familiar with the alphabets and they will type all what they want to say. A day will come when there will be no hand written manuscripts.
Same is problems with figures . I am talking about arithmetical figures and their application like additions, subtractions, divisions, multiplications, the easiest ones. I do not remember when was the last time I did these functions manually. The handy calculator does it for me.
Now Sunder Pichai tells us that Google is adding a feature where the full sentence will be promoted in reply to a message. Like if some one asks me how are you? I a will be prompted to write -fine , how are you? Great !

Are modern gadgets leading us to dementia? Think it over.

Yes Hariji. We do not want to exercise the brain. No doubt it becomes dull. In previous days we used to have a phone with dialling numbers. Each time we dial the number without our knowledge it remains in brain. But now with mobiles sometimes we do not remember our own phone number sometimes!
No need of dictionary. Spellings, meanings of words.... All on mobile!!!!

    Syamalaji,
Good times are ahead for us. Forget about numbers and spellings, we may not even remember names of people we knew so closely in the past. Faces look familiar but name?????? Our own boy Pichai is going to make things easy for us. Facebook will not need password, will recognise the faces.
    Achche din.

This same problem I have. I started to forget spellings and then made it into a habit not to use spell check. It's not always avoidable but I try.

The technician Aub reminded me of the 1950's vintage comedy skits... Abbot & Costello and Ma&Pa Kettle

Amulet, you sure have a great sense of humar. Thanks.
There is a Sardar joke on the same lines. Seven sardars take a taxi to meet President Gyani Jayal Singh and how he tells them that taxi wala charged them correctly by charging each 13 against 28 agreed fare.
