‘You seemed to be stressed out. Let’s go for a drive.’ Shwetha suggested.

‘I’m not in a mood to drive.’ Akhil retorted.

‘I’ll drive Akhil.’ Shwetha said. Thus they went out that Saturday, spending the evening driving around aimlessly.

‘Look at that mirror. Very artistic.’ Shwetha exclaimed.

‘Yeah but would cause a bomb. ‘ Akhil said.

‘Let me inquire.’ She went inside the roadside shop. While Akhil continued smoking, shwetha asked the shop guy to place the mirror in the car boot and paid him.

‘That was just thousand rupees. It would be a focus of attraction in our house.’ Shwetha said pleased with her side of bargain. Akhil was not in a mood to argue, things were stressful enough at office for him.

‘Shall we go back?’ shwetha asked. Akhil dozed off as she drove and when he woke up, she was parking the car at the restaurant.

When we reached home that night Akhil tried to open the car boot to take out the mirror. ‘No Akhil, Saturday is inauspicious day to bring mirror to the house. Let’s do it tomorrow.’ She said.

‘Inauspicious? When did you start believing in that?’ Akhil asked on the way to escalator.

‘Recently..I’m interested in these things related to home improvement because you appear stressed.’ Shwetha said.

He forgot about the mirror till Monday morning. When Akhil came out of the room that morning, he was greeted by the mirror which gave a majestic look to the hall..

As usual, Shwetha started to office early. Akhil was facing Monday blues coupled with stressful environment at work didn’t feel like going to office. When Akhil came near the mirror for taking car keys, he noticed something strange.

He saw the image of guy living upstairs. The image was there for less than a minute and post which he could see only his reflection. ‘Am I imagining things?’ Akhil asked himself. Door bell rang that minute and he was shocked to see the image of guy living upstairs.

‘I booked tickets for movie tonight. Unfortunately I will have to attend office dinner. Do you want to use it? It’s on me.’ The guy living upstairs smiled.

Shock was too less a word to describe how Akhil was feeling. After thanking him,Akhil’s mind was engulfed in what happened. On the way back from movie he told Shwetha what happened that morning and she laughed.

‘Akhil, you are stressed. Come on how can a mirror show something else?’ she asked. Though he didn’t have logical explanation he was disturbed.

That night when they reached home, Akhil looked at the mirror and it appeared normal. His mind was confused. Next morning when he woke up Shwetha had already left for the office. He curiously went to the mirror to see his own reflection. But even yesterday, it showed him the image when he was about to start for the office.

He went near the mirror for taking the car keys and was aghast to see Shwetha’s image with a cut on her forehead.

He immediately video called her ‘Shwetha Are you alright?’

    ‘Ofcourse what happened Akhil?’

He was relived to see she was normal.

‘ a bad dream….’ he said. The whole thing was spooky.

He was telling this incident to his colleague at workplace when his boss said ‘If you want leaves, directly ask so. Don’t spin stories.’

That evening when Akhil went home he was astonished to see Shwetha with bandage in the forehead.

‘What happened?’ his voice was trembling.

‘I just fell down in the car parking. Don’t worry, small cut.’ Shwetha said.

Akhil couldn’t get a grip on what’s happening. Does this mirror somehow have the ability to predict what’s going to happen next? Can this happen in real? Why he could see it only when he starts to office? His mind was asking hundred questions with no answers.

‘Akhil, what happened? Just a small cut. Why are you so worried?’ Shwetha asked.

He was confused by what is happening. Next day he saw himself driving a BMW, despite the puzzlement he laughed. Does it mean he is going to win a lottery or something? But that evening Shwetha’s friend came home stating he is going on a family emergency and let the car be parked in Akhil’s apartment. He also gave permission to spin it around.

The trend continued on next days followed. On the weekend mirror showed him receiving an expensive gift his sister and yes he received it. Soon whatever the mirror showed, started happening to him. This left him confused and disturbed. He opened up with Shwetha who bombarded him with thousand other questions in the lines of why Akhil only seeing images and how can all of this be coincidence.

‘Do you want to throw the mirror, Akhil? We can’t let it disturb us.’ Shwetha asked.

Though Akhil wanted the same, man in him didn’t want to admit the defeat to an unknown. From the following week , he avoided going near the mirror. He placed his car keys somewhere else and he was able to find some peace.

While reiterating the problem to his colleague who suggested meeting a swamiji an expert in super powers. When Akhil narrated the incident, Guru closed his eyes and just said ‘It’s not a Mirror’ .

Next day when Akhil woke up Shwetha had already left for office. He was about to step out for my office when Shwetha called. She wanted him to handover EB card to the maintenance office. As he was about to take that he saw the mirror, He saw an image of his car meeting with accident. Panic filled his body. He didn’t want to step out of the house that day.

Akhil received a call from Shweta’s friend , saying she is hospitalized as she was unconscious. His mind was not at peace while on the way to hospital as he was afraid something might go wrong. Meanwhile he received another call from the friend asking him to come immediately. He sped up the car and while he was thinking the friend’s voice appeared different than usual ,a bike appeared in the opposite direction out of nowhere. He tried to slam his brakes, eventually lost control and hit the tree. That accident took his life away.

    **

    Few months later:

Shwetha slowly came out of the grief over loss of her husband and that evening she was at home. The bell rang and she smiled at the visitor

‘Hi Stranger..’ the guy living upstairs greeted her.

‘I’m still supposed to be grieving.’ She replied ‘By the way received the insurance money.’ She said.

‘Let’s take it slowly.’ he gave a quick kiss ,glanced at the mirror and went away.

As they successfully got rid of Akhil using technology and subconscious manipulation, they have all the time in the world.
