    I think it’s upto the parents to raise their children with confidence and not yield to all these stupid comparisons or compliments.

    Actually even now in India this color thing is there..but the younger generation these days are more confident

    I wish I could vote this post. Nailed it.
    We all talk about dark skinned kids not being selected for school functions. But those kids hate the lighter-skinned kids and bully them on the side. The hatred spills over and goes unnoticed . Even as a grownup, it takes an extra effort to show that light skinned woman is not a high class person, just a normal middle class person watching soaps , <mind-numbing> reality shows like BB, cooking daily. Neengallaam yaaru daily pizza saapduveenga :facepalm: :lol:
