    Watched October (Hindi) starring Varun Dhawan. Haven't watched any Varun Dhawan films with interest prior to this. But heard that he won an award for this film and decided to watch the same.

    It was a slow but poignant and painfully beautiful film of a careless hotel intern named Dan (Varun) who took it upon himself to look after his colleague who slipped into coma after accidentally falling down from the 3rd floor of the hotel, all because her last words were "Where is Dan?"

    Varun seems like a nonchalant and natural actor. Watching him on screen will make you forget about the actor- all you see is Dan and his journey with Shiuli. It was beautiful to watch Varun enacting the role of Dan with all his confusion, angst, disappointment, affection, realization. And although Varun seems to have the biggest screen space here, every other actor who acted with him, leaves an impression in your mind.

    Highly recommended for all those who don't mind watching a slow, beautiful film.

    Pariyerum perumal - It was the story of recent 'kongunadu' - court case that is still in progress.

    The movie portrays the real event that took place, with the twist of good ending - a hero who has that super physical strength to stand up against the odds.

    In reality, it was staged as the boy committed suicide, and the place was not even closer to his home or college; the vigilant group almost escaped from the law. Yep, the girl testified in court last week...as didn't meet the boy on that day and didn't even know the boy. She changed her story since she gave the statement to the police after the event. She even said that in open court, "police made me do so" and the 'self appointed' vigilant walked into the court as hero of their community. Including the girl and her parents are also the victims; they are not part of the gruesome murder that took place and they were also threatened by the vigilant group. It seems that vigilant group has spy in colleges / in their neighborhood places to monitor their "selected people";

    In engineering school, we may ran across a few, those came in quota system but, cannot speak a word of English; Did we ever speak to them, try to help with the subject, include them in lab, project, any of our activity?

    The new director, scene by scene narrates the story in college / their life style and the characters lived in it. Each character stood out well, including the bad. A low budge movie, none of them were known artist except the girl's dad.

    Since I read about the court case, the movie caught my attention. Otherwise, I would have avoided like any other low budget movie!

    Paraiyerum perumal, hits you hard because of the visual potrayal,especially if you have followed the cases from which it draws inspiration.. the character prop of karuppi, and the mourning song hits you hard...

    A poignant, beautiful portrayal into the stark and harsh reality which many of us close our eyes to, and just make a few shares or comments and move on..
    Caste discrimination and honor killing are realities that need more than a few movies to solve them..

    96, makes you smile, ruminate your own memories..a beautifully done movie..a emotional, heart touching.. though theme is familiar, the treatment and subtle potrayal makes it watchable and rewind your own memories at the end...
