So, here for not a very pressing problem, just want to know some insights. I joined my current job a little over a year ago. Normally they do a 1 year anniversary team meeting, give a card signed by all, a certificate and a t-shirt. Somehow mine was missed and I am not sure why. I let go thinking it would be so silly to ask them why they didn't do mine. Today morning my manager wanted me to sign a card for 3rd year anniversary for someone in my team. Nothing big, but it bugs me why was mine conveniently forgotten? I don't have any problem in my office, rapport with my manager has been so good, I have flexible working schedule and I love my team. But this really bugs me. How do I bring this up without sounding silly or accusing? Or should I even bring this up given it is mostly a honest mistake?
Congratulations on your work anniversary. You're right in being pissed, i'd be too. Have you signed the card yet? If not, you could casually mention to your manager while signing "wow, so many folks have their anniversary this week/ month. X who is 3, *insert other names if any*, me..." hopefully this will ring a bell! Good luck
I would be irritated too if I was in your place....If my work anniversary was missed, I would just just tell upfront "oh, this reminds me, I have completed one year in this company too! Time goes so fast , right? Seems like yesterday that I joined this company and I've already achieved my first work anniversary..".. Your manager would be a total fool to ignore this one!
Yes I would have felt bad too . When they are doing it for other employees why not for us.. And was your work anniversary on a weekend ?? Chances are that they would have forgotten if it was on weekend .. Casually you can tell that so soon you already completed an year in this company with wonderful colleagues
No, it was not on a weekend. In fact last month they did a baby shower thing for my colleague and they again didnt do mine last year. I mean they did a full blown baby shower with cakes and 300$+ worth of gifts, etc, whereas I got a stuffed toy and a blanket! I have already worked as a contractor for close to a year before, so its not like I was new. My boss was apologetic how they couldn't do mine at that time as they were in between some stuff. Nice to know others would have felt the same in my position. I kept thinking if it sounds too kiddish.
This could be the actual reason. They show a lot of difference between full time hires and contractors. Even in my previous company , contractors were treated differently
Oh no, I was converted to full time last year and thats the anniversary I was talking about. I worked as a contractor a year before that.
This would irk me too. Who is in charge of organizing this ? HR ? Have they not heard of google calendar ?
You can ask the manager or HR on the C2H terms n policy. Else you initiate an email with flowery words saying thank you for the support kinda to the manager or the HR and see how they respond. A big congratulations on your first year work anniversary.
