    Hi,
Has anybody seen Mozhi? how is it ?
I wanted to watch this movie and we went to IMC6, sanjose. But the audio wan't good. In many scenes it was muted completely. The person incharge wasn't sure when the technical person will come to correct that , also he mentioned he can't rewind it from the first. So we got refunded and came back:cry:.
I liked the few scenes I watched(though without audio).

    regards,
    geetha

    Hi Geetha,

Mozhi is a movie on a girl who is dumb and deaf. (Jyothika). So what ever the scenes where audio is appeared to be muted, basically they are supposed to be so as Jyothika performs the comunications through actions.
Many people in some theatres here have felt that audio was not good.

We have watched this movie here and its worth watching!!. A different approach in Tamil Cinemas once again.

    Hi,
Actually here we couldn't hear the dialogues of Prakash Raj and Prithivi Raj also. We just saw one scene of Jyothika. Even the other scenes were muted. Planning to go if they release in some other theatre in bay area.

    Regards,
    Geetha

    Dear All,
I saw mozhi only this afternoon thanks to my daughter. She insisted that I should see this movie. Almost fought with me. Since she was leaving for her college today, I agreed.
But I tell you, Mozhi is one of the best movies I saw in the recent past. First you have a strong and a different story line. At least a different treatment of a "dumb and deaf girl" subject.
Second there is no club-dance, belly-dance or some thing which I am even more allergic to, stunts. No question of the hero fighting single handedly against 2000 villains. Or chasing the helicopter with a delapidated bicycle. All these nonsense are not there.
There is no separate disjointed comedy track. Comedy is by the hero and his friend Prakash Raj. Nothing obscene about them. Comedy is quite spontaneous and you laugh with all your heart.
When Jyothika who plays the dumb and deaf heroine says through sign language, 'There are many languages in the world which I do not know. Chinese, Hindi etc. Similarly music to me is another language which I do not know. But I know a language which you do not know. The language of silence." there was hardly a dry eye in that small theatre in Madurai, Minipriya, which can hold about 300 plus people.
The movie moves with the right speed and ends in a right note.
Music by Vidya Sagar is just about ok. Not very remarkable. We nomally expect more when the hero and his friend are in the film industry as keyboard players. But it is not very jarring or distracting.
After a long time you have a movie which you can watch with your teenage daughters without getting embarrassed.

    Regards,
    Varalotti

Mozhi and the other new Jothika movie, Pachaikili Muthucharam...I would love to see both these movies.
Now that even Varalotti has given his review, I would not like to miss Mozhi. Hope I get lucky and get my hands on the dvd .

I loved this movie "mozhi" !
Though there are thousands of languages spoken all over, this movie depicts, "silence" is the universal language !
The light, hilarious scenes( the theatre rocks with the audience's loud laughter !) interspread right through, prevent the theme from becoming a heavy one.
I loved the " bulb burning and bell ringing" scenes, when " love is sparked off" !
Instead of clapping hands, waving both the hands, raising them up, was so beautiful.
I enjoyed the lyrics of Vairamunthu too.
Prithviraj is superb - his body language is too good & cannot help saying, vey very handsome too with a cute sweet dimple !
Please do not miss it !
    Love,
    Chithra.

    how different a person feels
when he/she is deaf and dumb
    they dont want pity
    only understanding..
and they are treated equally by society
    especially when it comes to
    everyday situations
    the father leaving the family
and the deaf and mute girl...
    learning to live courageously.

    prakash raj is superb
i liked the dance with towel on the bed..
gosh..!! the expression on his face
    when the secretary tells him...

    nice movie dont miss it..
in spite of not being able to
    hear(!) a few conversations
    its a different language remember...
    pretend
    and enjoy..

    True!
I have somehow managed to see the movie on the net. It is not a satisfying experience, but then, beggars can't be choosers:)
I loved the movie. It did not feel like a movie, was very realistic.
A very refreshing and a heartwarming movie.
Hope they make movies like this all the time. Too much to hope perhaps.
Jothika acted so well. The hero was very natural and your regular guy. Yes, I like Prakash Raj a lot and I think this movie was his own production. Good work.

    Hi Geeta,

You probably wanna go watch the movie again at IMC6. We went last week and enjoyed the movie thoroughly, although I do admit that their sound system sucks. But at least, it wasn't the way you described it to be when you went to see it. They probably fixed the temporary problem, but it might be better if they changed the whole sound system there.

As for the movie, we both thoroughly enjoyed it. I like Jyotika and the guy ain't that bad either. I did not quite like him in the beginning, but due to his acting skills, I ended up admiring him a bit towards the end.

Dear Sridharji, I wonder why you did not like the songs...infact I love the songs in Mozhi. They're simple, yet refreshing. Yes, they lack originality, but it's very pleasing to hear the title song at any point of the day :)
