my family members eat both rice items and chapattis on an equal basis...we usually make phulkas on flame and don't use oil.. Occasionally only we eat paratha...I m just looking for suggestions to make rotis/phulkas quickly..
After so many years of marriage I still haven't got the hang of it..
Making atta dough will take some fifteen. Mins..kneading the dough is a messy affair..then rolling chapattis and cooking them on tawa and flame etc..it takes me close to half an hour to just make 10-12 phulkas even if dough is already prepared..
If I have to make 15 plus phulkas, like if there are more people at home it takes even longer..
Some of my acquaintances are so quick in making these North Indian items like phulkas, chapattis, parathas etc I wonder how they do it?
Was just wondering if this is something that comes with practice, or is there some trick in making chapattis quickly and efficiently?
Kindly give tips so I do not spend longer time huffing and puffing and sweating in kitchen!!

I too have difficulty with making soft rotis.
I usually need the dough at least 5 hours before. Gets easier to roll.

Get a roti maker, you can save time without rolling.

My sister in Canada got a Rotimaker that does everything by itself. Not yet launched in India.

I use a food processor to knead roti dough. It is hands free, does not need resting time at all and I get fresh puffed phulka immediately without the mess of kneading with hand. I dont use any oil for kneading or while rolling.

Usually people roll faster and wait for roti on tava to finish. use two tavas if you can roll faster.

also prep dough to last for couple of days or freeze in daily portions to last for couple of weeks....all of this will help reduce roti making time.
