    Hi,

I have had healthy pregnancy in 2015, I gave birth to a baby girl in march'2015. I also had Gestational diabetes during that pregnany ( diagnosed at 28weeks and was on metformin until delivery. 6 weeks after delivery I got checked for diabetes and got cleared. I'm 32 years old now and I conceived again in the month of march 2018. my Hba1c was 6.6 by then ( I did not get my sugar levels checked in between these pregnancies). I started using metformin again after 20 weeks to control my sugar levels. I had a tiffa scan at 20 weeks and the doc said everything is absolutely fine with the baby but the amniotic fluid is just adequate and she prescribed some sachets to increase the fluid level. During 22nd week ,one day I was having abdominal pain, cramping and some vaginal disharge ( both white and red tissue like discharge with little blood), SO I went to see a doctor and told her about my condition and she said it might be because of uterus irritation ( she says this might have caused due to constant travelling) and then she asked to get a scan. I then had a scan and the doctor said that the baby was doing fine, the cervix was closed. So she then asked me to get some injections to bring the pain down ( progestorone and IV) and while the IV was being administered I had severe bleeding and suddenly cervix got dilated and I unfortunately had an inevitable abortion at 22 weeks. I still cannot understand what might have caused this, Im in deep pain right now. Its been 15 days since I had a miscarriage and the bleeding has almost stopped, now I can see some white clear sticky discharge from my vagina. It does not smell bad, but Im worried if I have some infection. So I went to a gynic again and she asked me not to try for another pregnancy. I got so upset after hearing this. Im really upset right now, hating my life . I also got my sugar test done, fasting blood sugar - 91 , post lunch blood sugar - 129, Haemoglobin- 7.8 gms

Has anyone gone through this? DO u think diabetes might have caused this? Can I try for another pregnancy? I think there must be many reasons for this

Oh OP, hugs to you.So sorry for your loss.
This is the time to grieve. Please dont think about future now , just grieve the loss of your baby.Take the time to heal yourself both physically and emotionally. Take the support of your loved ones to recover.
When you have healed well, you will find a way, you will have another baby, but now is not the time to worry about it. Now is the time for patience, faith and lots of love. Take care .

    Dear OP,
I am so sorry for your loss, But since you had already given birth to healthy baby girl, you will surely get a healthy baby next time, but please talk to your doctor, they will consider your case as high risk and observe keenly.

Even I too had similar experience as you, I had abortion at 22 weeks in year 2015, that was my first baby, causes are unknown , I didnt had any diabetes or any other health issue.

One morning I just ran into normal labor and water broke that lead to delivery.

I was under tremendous stress during that time due to some family issues, so we thought that had caused the abortion. I think every case is different, I was also very depressed because we had hopes on the baby and bought few things for his arrival too.

Steps I took next time to be cautious are

    1. I was considered as high risk patient( unknown cause)
    2. They checked my cervix now and then every two weeks, to see it is tight and closed.
    3. Cervix lengths are monitored
    4. I was given progesterone shots every week, to keep cervix tight, not to run into labor
    5. Constantly checked for infections
    6. Last but not least, I made up my mind with positive thinking that I am going to deliver this baby at 40th week.

I am sure I will deliver at 40th week that was the positive affirmation I had.

God blessings, trust on my pregnancy( trusting yourself is very imp), my half stress is reduced with this trust and acceptance, I had delivered my son at 40th week.

As I had many hopes on my first pregnancy and I couldnt bear my first baby loss, I didnt wait much time to get pregnant, I had just given 6 months break.

Hope my experience helps you, All the best.

Wow! Thanks for such a detailed reply :) ..Your positive story brought smile on my Face .. THanks a ton for motivating me ! Im trying to take it slow right now, I do not know if I want another baby because this experience was pretty traumatic for me, but again I need to be positive so maybe lets just say that I will have a healthy pregnancy if I get pregnant again
