    @Bubbles you're living my mom's life...she did M.ED when I was a baby... (Still I'm)
My mom regrets then there was no electric cooker, can't store idli batter on fridge( grandparents were extremely Orthodox) I still remember until my grandpa passed only fruits, milk and veggies were in fridge, nothing else . Mom has extreme exhaustion till date, pls don't become like my mom.
Every thing home made from coffee powder to festival / function sweets savories ..
Don't give in so much. No one even thinks about it later 20 yrs. I'm witnessing.
Only your health and mental health will go away , you will keep thinking on what to cook, what to clean, when to clean. No time for studying untill you do in one shot.
Both mil and mom were working.
Mom - like you, catering according to needs of everyone. Coffee for grandparents, tea for maid, boost/ bournvita , horlicks for dad and kids. Idli,dosa,2 different chutney's. Lunch with gravy , curry, rasam , fryums every single day(poor soul, I feel bad for her). Dinner : roti and subji, not simple ones I was a bad kid demanding one
On the other hand : MIL
Morning: idli and chutney, if she is making sambar or any tamarind based gravy that's the side dish.
Lunch : sambar and a veggie, or greens.
Dinner: dosa and left over lunch gravy or morning chutney.
After I got married, I felt I never ate good dinner after coming from work. I pitched in to make dinner, (another big story) with eloborate side dishes. After few months, I understood mil doesn't want to extend herself much to cooking. She uses herhtime WatchTV , read magazines, call friends relatives.
If you get up late, sorry no coffee is her answer for own kids.
My mom slogged in kitchen. But both are good mom's in others eyes. My mom has leg pain because of constant standing. My mil is rather healthy being elder to mom. My mil says even on weekends and holidays that's the schedule. Only spl dishes on festival and feasts.
Snacks always bought outside. Idli/ dosa batter once in a week.
My mil tells me to follow her things to save time , energy and no of dishes to wash is less.
Pls save time for yourself. Cook only 2 times a day, clean 2 times. Who cares if kitchen is messy?
Satisfaction after 1 hr study is equal to 10 hrs cleaning

    Hi All,

Posting here after a long long time ... hope all are doing good..

I resumed office after maternity break and I need suggestion to decorate desk..

Also suggest me to arrange desk drawers as It keeps getting messy after few days.. I have divided the drawers ..

I keep lots of stuff in desk drawers . 3 drawers are allocated to me

    In 1st drawer , I keep 2 Pens , 2 Diary , Stapler , Scissor , Hand Sanitizer , Tissues , Hankerchief

    In 2nd drawer , I keep Cosmetics ( Vaseline , Comb , Perfume , Cream , 1 set of Bangles ) and medicines , spray

In 3rd and biggest drawers , I keep Food items , extra pair of Sweater , Extra Pair of footwear ... Some extra Stuff in one bag ..

2 empty Lunch Box ( to store half empty , Kellogs and biscuits ) .. Coffee Mug , Water bottle and lot more

And believe me , every 3rd day , My drawers are messed up..

Also , I clean desk atleast daily before leaving for the day ..

I need suggestion to make it more lively ...

If it comes under wrong thread, do let me know I will move it..

    Hi @sonal1611

You seem to have quite a lot of stuff in your drawers. Allocating individual spaces will give it a neat look and also easy access.

For the stationery and make-up items try this kind of shallow organizer.

For the deep drawer for bag and sweater try this kind.
You can make them yourself from cereal and other boxes.

As for desk organizing I am not sure what you have.
My desk has just the computer a notebook and some sticky notes. I use coffee mugs to store a few pens.

As my job requires very little stationery and am required to keep all information away from prying eyes, I automatically place all paper copies if any, and meeting notebooks, in the drawers and lock them up as and when I return from a meeting, and after using the information to complete a task.

I do not know the nature of your job. So giving this a long shot:
    • Either assign about 10 minutes before closing time to put away stuff; or you can do it once during your lunch break also.
    (or)
    • Put away stuff after using it in its place before moving on to the next task. All it takes is a few seconds.
    whichever works for you.
    • Systematically, every month or so purge and shred all unwanted papers.

Thanks @kkrish Mam .. I will definitely try .. I work in IT company and stay in mumbai

So for travelling lite I keep maximum Stuff in office drawers so I dont need to carry repetitive items ( like cosmetics , medicine , personal hygiene items , Dairy , snacks and many more )

I tried with Boxes (like closed boxes ) , and magnetic openings.. which I got with some subscriptions

    I keep searching for stuff..

I will try with open boxes

I purge stuff as and when I find time ... or when I find its tuff to find stuff

But make my desk looks good before leaving for the day ..

Nice thread. I too want to share my routine and get some tips.

Wake up 6:am. Fresh up and bath upto 6:30. Read Ramayan then yoga then meditation upto 7:10.

Go to kitchen. Make lunch for h and eo. Then give water to h and give milk to eo at 8. Finish packing lunch and make breakfast. Make eo ready for school. His bus come at around 8:50. Then come back and wake up yo. Help him get ready and drop him to school at 9:30. Then make tea for me and mil have breakfast upto 10. Then start with cleaning and folding laundry arranging bed start washing machine and make lunch for kids. All that in two and half hours.
At 12:30 go to pick up yo. Feed him make him sleep by 1:30. Then go to pick eo. Feed him and make him sleep which is little tough. He don't sleep many times. By the time he sleep it's time to wake up of yo. Take him out feed him. Eo wake up in an hour then feed him too. Then time for homework. No time is fixed for these activities. Still approx at 5 either I take them out or we go to terrace or my friends come with their kids. We spend an hour playing. Then around 6:30 my sil come from office. I make tea. Then h come back. Then again give him tea and start with making dinner. Sleeping time 12:30 to 1. Then again start at 6.

I am not spending any time for any kind of learning and studying. Is there anything that I can do to modify my routine to take out some time for me. Thanks for reading.

    @messedup
With two children with different school schedule, especially when you have to drop and pick them up, it is not surprising that your days are tight.
I would not worry about not doing much else now. You will get substantial chunks of time only when your younger child also goes to school full time.
My recommendation would be to spend as much time with your children and enjoy them ma. In a few years, they will grow up and you will have a lot of time on your hands.

However, because you asked this is what I will suggest.
For a week record how you spend the day in half hour chunks

    8:30- 9 - getting ready
    9-9:30 - leave e.o. in school
    And so on....
After a week see where you are repeating same things over and over again. See if you can reduce some time not repeating some things.
Also check if you can prepare something earlier
If you are indulging in an activity every day that is unproductive - see if you can cut it to half or do it a few days a week instead ofvevery day.

Sorry I am not of much help.
