    Hi Mommies,

Actually my daughter is 7 years old and she is fond of all junk food. She always asks for Noodles (Maggi or Yuppie). Almost weekly once she wants it and some times she asks more than that...
And also she likes Pasta, Pizza, Tomato Kethcup a lot. Tomato Ketchup is consumed on daily basis as she takes it with dosa, idly, chappati, bread and whatever..

Recently I saw a video and read that Tomoato Ketchup and all other Store made sauces are full of chemicals and might cause severe effect on kids so I googled and wanted to make home made tomato ketchup..

But Is there any healthy alternative to replace Maggi, Pasta .. Please suggest.
Please tell me the recipe if you are making anything healthy at home.

I tried all possible home made snacks like Till chikki, peanut chikki, Besan laddo, Rava ladoo, Muruku etc...But she denies to take snacks made at home. She always wants that Aloo bhujiya or other mixture varieties bought from store. I am concerned on her health now. She is not eating anything nutritious and on top of it all packed food..:(

ur post reminds me of my school days :):) How much I want all those snacks items..

Now I m working and have baby at home , how much I want her to eat healthy food only :):)

I am not of much help .. But I will suggest reduce the quantity of junk food to half and tell her 1st eat chapati then U will get half of that junk food..

Show her videos on YouTube , how much junk food causes harm to ur body in long run..

Pizza - U can try to make at home with wheat floor .. Like on thick chapati topup with cheese and all vegetables

Same with Pasta , Load with lots of veggies

The only solution is to prepare everything at home from scratch. You can make pasta red and white sauces easily. For the pasta itself try the whole wheat variant and try making rice schezwan noodles with lotta veggies. For crunchy snacks make healthy bhel puri or makhana is even better

    Thanks so much Sonal...
haha...yes, I can also easily co-relate myself in it. I use to irritate my mom a lot for different snacks each day..:tongueout:
Now I understand the pain of it...

I showed her, but she is not taking it serious.
You know, my daughter doesn't take any veggies which includes onions & tomato's as well.:BangHead:
When she takes pizza outside , she removes all veggies and eats only pizza..i mean plain base with sauce.
I am trying to make Pizza with no much hit...she doesnt like it becoz i am yet to master it.

Same applies with Pasta and Maggi....she removes all veggies or either asks me to make them without veggies.
I tried forcefully giving veggies in any other form, she just vomits...:(

    Thanks Stardust.
I will try to make sauces at home. I am first planning to start Tomato sauce. I have seen few cooking sites on how to prepare...Few added some preservative.
Have you tried making sauces at home? If so, do you prepare with out preservatives?
Please suggest me any link which is good for Pasta and Pizza sauce..

hehehe.. Same .. Even I dont like veggies when I was kid..I used to vomit for all other thing except Potato and lady finger :) :) Now I bought , cook and eat :):)

    Does She like Sambhar ???

What I remember , My mom puree all boiled veggies in mixer and than make sambhar..

Same with Parathas.. For aloo parata , She mix boiled bottlegourd in Atta only :):)

Now I know how tuff must be for her to make me eat all vegetables :(:(

mix veggies ( bopiled and pureed ) or in grated form in atta only .. so that she cant remove :):)

Reduce the quantity of Sauce , pasta & Noodles which you buy. Instead of big bottle of Ketchup, you buy a smaller one and show her empty bottle. You may not be able to stop it completely. You have to reduce it little by little.
Instead of maggi, make semiya with veggies. Pasta, you can make it once in a while with loads of vegetables. Insist on eating Vegetables.
Please buy these things in small quantities so that you have reason to tell her that its over and she can eat it next time.

    Hi daffodil13,
I was facing the same issue with my daughter taking junk foods.
But now i have replaced maggi and other noodles with organic millet noodles.
Regarding tomato sauce , u can follow opos method, its very easy to make. Making sauce, jam, wheat cake, custard is very easy in opos.

If this is summer season you can get big, red, ripe tomatoes in bulk.

Peel 15 to 18, chop in big pieces. Place in big, wide pot and stir. Keep on low-medium heat.

Add white salt, black salt, black pepper, turmeric to taste.

Process takes 4 hours. Stay near the kitchen to stir ever 30 minutes or so.

Eventually, it will turn to thick paste. Store in jar.

This is what I use as substitute of spaghetti sauce, pizza sauce.

    Best. Thing. Ever

For spaghetti, get whole wheat only.
