School days were the best . No responsbilities but have to study hard to come first in the class. In our school on teh first of every month whole school used to gather in the hall and the person who comes first the Mother Superior used to put a badge and the whole school used to come toknow. The reports also will be given. We never had different kind of tiffin boxes those days, we used to carry in thooku, idli with milagapodi or thayir chadam. On Saturday we can put any dress but we did not hav emuch dress to put. From 7th to Xth std I used to go to school with my best friendin her car, who was down to earth person, very rich but their whole family were very loving and evening I used to spend two hours with her, one hour playing indoor games and one hour studying. We used to do the maths seeing the examples and next day when teacher used to teach we used to finish fast and get excellent in our maths book. I am still in touch with her , our friendship started from 1957. Because of her I learnt typing and got a job as a Typist, then became Steno and then Senior Assistant. Cant forget her anytime.

I had drawn this in a book in which I wrote thoughts etc. and gifted tomy best friend on her birthday

:hello:As a habit madam sister provides nostalgia to all her contemporaries.
    2. My class mate Rajamani would give his stainless steel Thooku of thair sadam -curd bath- almost daily to a waiting poor nor Half clad. Some others used to share their Thooku food with him. I was close to school so I come home for lunch.
    3. Like now, there was no uniform for boys and girls and specific dress code.
    5. Coachng classes held in school between 6 to 8 free for maths science and English free.
    6. Merit cum means scholarship was granted in fair manner. I too was a beneficiary under 92 MER -MADRAS EDUCATION RULES.
    6. SANSKRIT sloakas were chanted in 10 minutes morning prayers in huge hall.
    7. Actor Kamala Hasan and producer director Vishu and many former ministers studied in my school many years after I had left the school. Late padmasri Bhanumathi used to be seen near school entrance when she herself drops her son Bharani several years junior than I.
8.The annual excursion to zoo museum aerodrome connemara library all in then Madras city now CHENNAI was arranged by school.
    8. walking in long queue with our class mates and travel in school bus considered luxory and discussing en route trivial matters filled students with wonderful experience.
    9. Writing an essay in English composition about our excursion to these places was a regular feature.
Thanks to diamond sister and regards.

Lucky you ma'am to have such beautiful journey and nice frnds :banana:

I really don't like.much of my school days. :smash2::smash2: apart of studies school was nice  mathematics was my favr subject but scored the least in the board exam

I have a different learning pattern which my dad alone can understand but he hardly had time to sit beside me. But I gradually started learning his way of teaching and started to train myself and was able to excell in my academics...

I like college days more than my school days... In all the ways.

Thank you for giving a chance to recap my school days.

    Good night.

    Dear Vijima,

I did not like my school days.:disappointed: I did not like studying either but had to study. In schools since teachers like only brilliant students, for students like us, it was a punishment. As @Adharv said, I enjoyed my college better as I realised my responsibility and studied what I liked. After my 12th, I did very well and scored first class in degree and PG.

:hello:in so far as academic performance at school, I have a feeling majority in those good olden school days must have been just above average. We had spent playing cricket in STREET unmindful of rain or shine. We remain outdoors - body prepared adequate vitamin D and less frequently fell sick.
But enter COED college we acted more matured and did fairly appreciably well and some of us made institution proud with brilliant performances both academic and sports indoor and outdoor.
    REGARDS.
