You know that cute little tadka pan, the tiny but essential component of our great Indian Kitchen? I got a nice little SS one with copper bottom from India, with a nice handle and inbuilt stand..that worked beautifully in India.. ...but the knob is way too short to reach the stovetop here. And it doesn't stay level otherwise. Can anyone suggest an idea to make it work? Or suggest some other (not too costly, not-nonstick) that I can get in US?
Hi I have got non- stick pan from India and it works fine! You can also place your tadka pan on the stove top with the help of some tongs and then add the tadka. Below there is a link for stainless steel one from Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01I9QGZH...locphy=9027617&hvtargid=pla-411797072556&th=1
I make tadka in a normal small pan. Didn't wanna complicate things and buy a separate pan just for that.it works just fine.
I too have the same issue above. Keep some pan upside down near the tadka pan so as the handle rests on it
holding tong for cooking - Google Search: I meant hold the tadka pan with a tong while you are adding tadka, tat way it gets some support.
Hi folks! An update.. now using an old metal roti rolling pin under it for the correct height. The rolling pin is just the perfect width between my grates and stove edge so it doesn't roll away.. Hope someone comes up with a better model for these pans!
Hi. My suggestion is to buy iron tadka ladle. You get it in vessel shops in India. You may consider this option during your India visit. Please consider avoiding non stick vessels. They are harmful. Iron is natural non stick and you also get iron into your food when you cook in iron vessels. It keeps your family's haemoglobin levels healthy. Lastly, iron utensils last you a lifetime or rather, for generations
